*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Hi Becky,

I'm Maureen, Miss Targets Co-worker.

Thanks for putting the link to w to w on the thread. I had seen it on the internet then couldn't get back to it.

I called and talked to a rep, very informative lady, and answered all my questions with my concerns. One was were the supplements coated. They aren't as you well know. I got the two month plan and anxious to read the book that comes with it. Did you follow the 30 day plan?? I eat pretty healthy now but feel I need a little something else. I have used Shacklee, but they were getting too pricey then just went to OTC vitamins, (coated) but found a bunch of bottles lined up on the counter and making sure you get one from each etc was just too much even when I put them in a pill case for the week. These packets are perfect. (Grab one and Go)

It's great your husband purchased plan for you, and he even benefited too. Congrats on your loss. The lady said you will loose without even realizing it. She said it happens cause you are getting in balance with nutrients your system needs.

I should get my product on Monday. This is something I have been searching for, product directed to a woman's needs from a reliable source (lady physicians) and it comes with a satisfaction guarantee. I'm willing to try to see if it will work with my system.

I eat pretty healthy now, but its the sweets that come into the picture that messes me up, the rep said the balance from the program will help with those cravings.

Well better start getting moving and see if this attempt at posting works. LOL

Maureen

I did not really know there was a 30 day plan. How does it work? Today will actually be 30 days for me being on the vitamins and us being on this diet.

The nutritional advice in the book surprised me. One we can't believe the things we do get to eat and the amounts and the fact that after following this diet we not only don't crave sweets, we don't ever get hungry. Gospel truth. I'm not eating half the amount of food I use to and Have to remind myself to eat lunch. It's amazing.

I did go to the store and read all the labels in the ice cream section. More and more companies are coming out with low carb stuff, which is the only thing you have to watch, but not anything like Atkins. Blue Bunny brand ice cream has come out with one that is good and OK according to the book. We do have a serving of it in the evenings. But it really isn't that we crave it.

Becky

OH, I should say the hardest thing for me about "eating healthier" was giving up my morning coffee:) I had stopped pop years ago and only drink water, except for coffee in the morning. I'm down to one very very weak cup:)

HMM. It might. It's been almost a year since I had him floated. I was planning on having both of them checked in a few weeks.

Reason why I wondered about his teeth is because, I remember reading that teeth can cause unusual/strange head 'behaviors'.

I've been meaning to ask. How's Winnie? Is she rideable yet?

Good morning! Sorry about the lost teenager scare at the airport, I wish we still were in the days when you could meet at the gate when people come off the plane.

So is everyone back to normal and where they should be now and we can just relax for a bit? :~D

He's chewing ok and eating faster now though. His neck isn't stiff. He just doesn't want to drop his head. Well actually he will but then picks it back up. If it had been while he was so acute I would really be concerned but I'm thinking he may just be a little stuffed up. I'm gonna run it by my vet anyway.

I used to enjoy watching people getting on their plane and taking off.

We waited quite a while at baggage claim, because that's where I thought ALL passengers had to go there when they left the plane. LOL.

Yeah, everything's back to normal. Markie was getting ready for school and hollering about 'where's my shoes'. (along with the obligatory huffing and puffing!)

Things back to normal for YOU guys?

I'm gonna grab a cup of coffee and go check out your pix. I'm dyin' to see them.

good morning everyone, glad Markie got back safely.
As for the "where are my shoes" question...........I always answer with " where you took them off!" Any more questions and I explain that since I didin't wear them, I am not the person that took them off! LOL
Kids ; )

Did the vet give him a shot in the neck? Even so, I wouldn't think after this many days, that it would still be sore. Glad to hear he is eating and feeling better.

You couldn't give my gelding shots in the neck. He always ended up being so sore, that he could hardly put his head down.

Usually when their teeth need floating, they'll hold their head cocked to one side or the other.

Remember when we all had the horse color discussions? Do you think Biscuit looks like a "smooty" buckskin? She is getting so light around the eyes and muzzle. Her sire and grandsire are buckskins, and she does have a dorsal stripe. It was November when we got her, so who knows what she is shedding out to be.

They do have limph nodes both at the throatlatch under the jowls and down in their chest that can get inflamed and may cause neck stiffness if he's been fighting something like he has.

Did he have a shot in the neck during all this?

ROFL! Emma asked me where her shoes were on Tuesday, I picked up mine (about 4 sizes to big), and said "I don't know but you can borrow mine!" She huffed, rolled her eyes, left and promptly returned with hers! LOL
Deaconjim is just as bad at asking me where stuff is........I don't know why they all think I keep tabs on everything or would even want to! The standard " I can't find........." gets a standard reply. " Go look again, but this time have your eyes open!". : D
