This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I'll bet you are! It ALMOST makes going on vacation not worth it coz the work just piles up until you get back.
That's not ~excatly~ what Cyn does, she doesn't stop when it happens. When it happens to Cyn, she might be going along and just takes a sortof hitchy step, where if you were watching her you might say "what was that?" but then she walks on normal. She doesn't stop. If she's standing when it happens, like when the farrier backed her into it, she'll just stand with this sortof stiff dead leg, sometimes at an odd angle and she seems content to just stand there like that if you didn't want her to move again. If you walk her forward from that, she'll take one hitchy step and keep going normal.
I have the tracker up. LOL!!!
Pins and needles time.
Oh! I am just glad the tracker is working for her flight! When I punched it in too early, it was giving me the destination of the previous flight with that number, ending in Miami! LOL!
She's about to fly over Moses Lake, where I went to flight school. It's flat farmland there, will look like a patchwork quilt of different crops from the air. Probably looks a little like home :~D
Maureen is going to post to you, about the plan.
I got the same info re. Fla. LOL! I forgot about the time difference.
She's seeing snow underneath now, and the foothills of the rocky mountains... if she's got clear skies. She was going to buy a disposable camera at an airport gift shop to take pictures from the plane. I hope she did that, she's like me, she never gets tired of looking out the window. It's really marvelous.
When I drive, hubby yells at me to pay attention and QUIT THE D^MN SIGHTSEEING.
LOL!
OOOOKay:)

After reading this post, I WENT to google some more. It may be Rusty did the hitchty step, and I mistook it for stepping on rocks. The articles I read said in cases of a few hitchty steps it's mild stifle problem. When they go to hopping on one leg like Rusty it's a bit worse, but could still be from a lack of conditioning or bad confirmation. I don't think his confirmation is bad, he may be a tiny bit straight in his back legs, but I think since the problem is just now (I think) showing up, it's more due to the lack of conditioning. I was just doing to much circleing and tight circles even tho I was n't doin it fast and hard or for long periods. Harley doesn't have any problems, but I'm not going to work him in the arena anymore till I Do a few weeks of hills to strenghten him up too.
I get so frustrated. I see so many people drag horses out of the pasture after being off all winter, do all kinds of hard riding, and events and don't have problems....so why do I when I try to be careful about stuff like that...(I think I'm on the pity wagon:)

Wonder what it'll be like in Tenn.?
Might get a little bumpy, but they'll go around storms. She's almost there! She's got a couple hours on the ground in Tenn before taking off again for home.
We all know people who don't give their horses a second thought and though it seems like they get away with it, they really don't. They just don't notice these things.
Phew! 24 mins till touchdown in Tenn!
@ 2 minutes!
Watching along with you and hoping she has a nice soft landing. Will she call you during her stop there do you think?
I'll be disconnecting in case she DOES call.
OK mom! I'm sure she enjoyed the flight!
Hmmmm, must be in a holding pattern.
EEEEK! I got a 'time out' on the tracker.
