This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I see that. How in the world did you catch that? LOL, Don't tell me you stood and waited for that?
Becky
Heh... It was just luck of the shutter I swear ;~D
Do you just have your camera with you at all times?
Becky
You never know what might come up that's picture worthy ;~D
Hope you're still inside... just started ~pouring~ here.
Oooh - I'll go move the mower inside... I was actually feeling rested up and was considering going out and mowing some more. Guess I won't. ;~D
I got about a quarter of the pasture done...
I know I should know the answer to this one, but Why are you mowing your pasture when you have horses? : )
Because they don't eat it even, and because the tall stuff is all weeds they don't eat. It gets taken over with undesirable weeds if we do nothing. In among that is scotch bloom that would take over, that red top stuff they won't eat, and other junk. There's grass under all that that they can get to when it's mowed.
That makes sense! kind of a good reason for goats! Billy loves all that weed mess and will eat it rather than grass!
I've thought about goats before... but I don't have goat proof fencing now.
It's a fact of life on small acreage and without an ability to really kill weeds and cultivate good forage, that when horses graze the land, the only thing that survives long enough to seed itself is the stuff they won't eat. Over time it will all become weeds.

Sorry.
Becky
Yeah - now there's two of them ;~D
No - no difference in quality at all when posted at snapfish size. Did they upload a lot faster?
Yeah, I think it did.
Becky
Ok, if I take pictures with this lower resolution, they look OK on here, but if I get one that I really like and want to make a hard copy, would it not look good, or does it depend on what size I print?
Becky
It would depend what size you want to print. You sacrifice the ability to make larger prints, or to crop them and still have nice big subjects, if you set it too low.
You might be able to get an idea if you got to snapfish's screen like you are going to order prints, and click your various pictures. It will tell you, based on the resolution quality of the uploaded images, the biggest print size that would be recommended for each.
What is the size of your original picture now?
Congratulations on that new and beautiful baby!
Precious new baby snaig.
