This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
That's exactly what we had to deal with recently here where I live. We lived here for 20 years, with very little newbies coming in. Then in the last 3-4 years, we've been swamped and these new people tried to start a homeowners association, to change things that had been here for years. Luckily, and without the help of any kind of organization:), the old timers got together and put a stop to it. We all showed up at one of their "organizational" meetings and let them know they were close to being tarred and feather, run out on a rail, and crosses burning in their sodded front yards:)

Thanks, I've got my little fanny pack packed with my camera so I'll have some pictures later tonight.

OK, do I want to know what it means in England:)?

Well, I can't write it on here, but go on http://www.effingpot.com/slang.shtml and you will see it!
: D
Can you believe all that for 185K? Unbelievable. Glad your water guys showed up.
There are a lot of properties about that area with 80 or more acres and a house for under $200,000. Pasture and barns. I just hope that when we are ready the right property will be still available!
I really liked this one. All it needs are owners and horses:')http://www.landsoftexas.com/texas/Index.cfm?Detail=&INV_ID=11871
guess where our "going out" anniversary money has gone! Guess we'll just be takin that picnic when we go to the landfil again : D
I don't even know why I opened it the other day:')
Maybe its not really that expensive and they just mistakinly put on too many zeros! : D
Nah. They just have a lot of stuff with it: equipment, cows, even groceries. I probably wouldn't sell it for less. Just goes to show what you can do with a piece of dirt:') 85000 here will get you about 8 acres of farm land.
We've been trying to get that through these people's heads but they think we're just dumb hicks who don't know any better :)
Hope they gave you come kind of guarantee that this won't happen again. Sometimes I get so frustrated with repairs on things that shouldn't have needed the repairs in the first place if it had been done right to start. (one of my pet peeves)
Wow!
I hate to see "new" people try and change something that is ok. I lived in a 100 year old house and the house next door was identical. Lots of original features. Windows were original and solid. All wood the same. Not a thing wrong apart from it could have benefited with a new kitchen. Well these YUPPIES came and bought it, tore out the doors and windows and replaced with double glazing looks like c%^&p stuff and tore out interior walls to make "bigger" rooms, added an extension that looked like a toilet block with a totally out of keeping flat roof and then invited us round to show us "what could be done" to make the home beautiful. It was awful. It was also very sad.
This would be good to put in my treasure chest. He doesn't have a lot of horse meds though and has to order .I think I'm going to order some quietex from state line because no telling how long the other takes. I'm also looking at some herbal stuff there. I may not need it but I want it if I do. I'm gonna scrub and bleach the trailer out this week and start short rides again. It's been awhile. If they behave on the long trip I'll stop half way and let them out awhile.
Don't worry, Darling, we're still going to Krystal's like I promised.
Things bad here too. The port truck traffic has gotten awful. I hate to think about when 69 opens. We finally got a red light so we can get out of the subdivision. Some run it though. Houses going up everywhere. Food places, banks, schools, and of course taxes too. You can't do anything any more around here. The city snoops even peek in back yards to make sure what you have. I was hoping the county would eminent domaine us but they keep letting houses go up.
