This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
My Red Maple
Rose of Sharon in the foreground, there is another, smaller one at the other end of the rocks. It's smaller because when I planted them last year, for some reason, Grizzly kept pulling that one out of the ground. I've been surprised it came back at all. My son in law dug them up at his parents house for his and Jenny's place. They had some extra so gave them to me. They bloom in the hot summer, so will give me some flowers after the iris are done too.
Impatients, and shade coleus behind the rocks this year. I also dug some spider wart up from out in the woods and planted them among the impatients, they haven't recovered from the shock of transplanting yet tho. They should grow back every year and will add some color to the iris after the iris is done flowering.
sorry for the rambling, I just realy enjoy gardening.

If you have to fall that sounds like the way to do it. Glad you are ok.
I was wondering about that. I don't think it hurts tho on this thread. I think the only reason for the mods not wanting them to go over 5,000 is it's hard to moderate in case of trouble.
Becky
Speaking of trouble ;~D
Thanks:)...LOL, I remember it flashed thru my mind while hanging on, dam this is going to hurt, but then when I hit, it was like, whew that wasn't so bad:) Wish all my falls had been that easy.
Becky
There's more then a few:), that's why I've got to change it somehow.
Becky
I was going to start a post with "I haven't fallen since..." but I don't want to tempt fate.
I've been riding, along with my kids. I'm a fool for loping!
How cute... That's a very flashy foal! I'm guessing they are very pleased.
And I am glad you've been riding and enjoying it so much!
LOL...I use to take a tumble about once a year. Every time I fell, I would think, OK, that's out of the way for a while, and I'd feel a whole lot more confident:)
Now it looks like it's about once every 2 years. I won't have to worry about it happening at TX.
Hey, but falls are just part of it. I really think with the amount of riding I do, I'm probably pretty average with the amount of times I come off. It's going to happen, IMO, and you just need to have the mind set when it does, it's not going to get to you. Of course, I do everything I can to keep it from happening, and was working hard yesterday, to get back in the saddle. I really think if he hadn't of tried to make the second barrel turn, I might have saved myself. Centrifical force is hard to overcome especially when your center of gravity is off. I've been wondering how much my doing weight lifting is what helped me hang on as long as I did.
Becky
Ohhhhh, I want it! What a cute foal. Those are 2 beautiful little girls, too. Are they yours?
OOOHHHHHH, how pretty.
Are those your girls.
Loping is fun:)
Becky
Great minds think alike.
I didn't say a word ;~D
Seriously.... keep your head down, post like you might be a serious member, interested in participating in a "gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah! "
All the mods need is to notice you in order to ban you again.
That said... welcome back, and good luck!
My last mishap was when Bay fell... and that only hurt me where he landed on my foot. Ankle swelled up pretty good, but not as bad as his knees, so I didn't even really have a chance to worry about it, I was so busy doctoring him.
But the last time I fell off, I was thrown by the crazy Arab mare that woman was looking to give away.
If that isn't a situation that should have carried it's own warning, I don't know what is!
Oh, my, I don't think I've heard that story. Let me get a cold beverage while you tell us:)
