*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well as long as they are there, I have to be there anyway, and if there's room on the trailer I just bring the mare along. I'm fortunate in that the dip in her back doesn't show with a saddle on, and otherwise she is an extremely pretty Thoroughbred hunter type.

You picked my favorite. They had a new model without a Cheyenne roll that I really liked alot. I like the basket-weave tooling too.

Horses are back to napping again... taking turns who's on guard duty. I just stayed back and used the zoom this time so I didn't disrupt them. ;~D

I've never seen Cyn volunteer for guard duty... I think she's lazy that way.

I did take pictures of my saddle and will post them as soon as Mack gets done on the computer, a few minutes. I didn't take any trail pictures, you've seen just about every thing worth taking a picture of. I don't want to bore anyone:)

We're not bored, just pictures of horse ears going down the trail are interesting to me!

My poor wore out stirrups:).This is pitiful, I need to get new ones. I didn't realize they were this bad,

I like your saddle, it's nice and simple, and you say it's not light, but really, it doesn't look as big and heavy as some I've seen!

I hope you show the stirrup pics to BigMack... I see a real easy present there :~D

Your pad looks a little worn too, as long as BigMack is looking around tack shops anyway ;~D

I can't believe Okie could have turned around and ripped the stirrup leather thingy.

I didn't really want any silver on it, the one I had before the conchos all go tarnished looking. But Stanley the guy who made it convinced me to put a few on. He said the ones he used wouldn't turn and he was right. They are really cool because they have little tie rings that hang from them. He told me with the lacing around the back of the seat and the front swell, and the few conchos, it could be use for shows if I ever did that:)...When I took it in to have the new fenders, he just stared at the poor thing, and said you've used it alot haven't you:). I went ahead at the time and had the leathers replaced, my horn needs to be rewrapped, the rawhide is coming off.

Kristy just pulled up with her horses. I better go see what's going on.

Kristy is trail riding a bit, she may run in the arena. I'll take some pictures. She is testing her knee.

Yeah my pad is about done too. I was planning on getting a new one soon, but Belle used up my horse allowance money, so now I have to save again. I looked at them Mon. when I went to pet smart for wormers. They had one there I really would have like to buy, but funds are low.

I was shocked he ripped the fender too. The guy at the saddle shop was too:). I think he was bitting it and got his chin thru it and it got stuck. The leather was still in pretty good shape, so he must have really pulled.

I'll look forward to the pics then!

I hope her knee feels good.

I have a friend coming over in a bit with her baby... I've cleaned up some of the dog hair on the floor, but it's nice out, I hope we can lay a blanket outside on the grass.

That's a darling baby. I took some pics of Mandy and Tuffy. She was already finished riding Winnie.

Winnie is doing much better but she sure needs to be ridden. She's really rusty from not being used for months.
