The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread FIVE

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well, these guys are both pretty easy haulers, so there isn't any fun in just loading them up to sit there. But thanks for thinking of ways for us to entertain ourselves till the truck is here!

"We'd like to hope a healthy horse doesn't often just fall over dead :~"

No kidding. Struck fear into my heart when I heard about it.

That is a lovely trailer and I sure wouldn't consider it a "starter".

Nice looking hubby you got there, too.

No we've never worried about termites. We live in northeast Ohio and really don't have much of a termite problem. The logs are treated and we also put a finish on the exterior. I'll try to dig a picture up and post it. Don't know if I have one that's on the digital.

You can draw a rough plan and any of the log home companies can do the blueprints.

Good morning All, Great looking trailer Hair!

Cindydawg, any good log home company will let you start with their already designed plans and work with them to tweak it to your desire. Or they will let you draw your own plan ( no matter how rough) and you send it to them for an estimate and they will also show you any flaws, such as height of ceiling near stairs etc. It costs some, but worth it to get the place of your dreams : )

Duchess, how is the foal doing this morning, I probably should back read, but was it a filly or colt?

Oh, nearly forgot, Cindydawg how did the "english" tea party go?? : D

I just got caught up with all the posts, congrats on your filly, she is beautiful. I love the dusting of spots on her rear, it looks like she has been playing with confectionary sugar! Hope you have managed to do some more imprinting with her and that Mom is calmer. : )
I am going out now, to move the colts. Deaconjim isnt here today, he is at work but will be home tonight which will be really nice. : )

That is a beautiful trailer. I like the windows, and I love that back door. The back door on mine is solid and it can get pretty hot inside even with the windows open. That should make better air circulation:)

Have you told your dad? Talked to him about switching trucks once in a while? Maybe he'll just offer:)

I can't wait for you to go the first time. Do you think you will go just the two of you, or do you want someone with you till you learn some trails?

Becky

Good morning.

I've had an interesting invitation, that I am almost sure I am going to accept. I'm not going to go to the JZ trail ride. The money I had set aside for the entry fees is what I'm having to use to treat Belle. With the clinic coming up and the things I need for that something had to go:(, but hey, there's always next time which would be this fall at Robbers Cave.

BUT, my neighbor BETH came by yesterday and invited me to a ride that is on Memorial Day Monday. There is a man that owns, tons and tons of land that ajoins her land on the back and ajoins alot of the land I already trail ride on. His land is fenced and posted so I've never rode there, but have always wanted to. Since Beth's land is next to his they have gotten to know him and they ride there anytime. She told him about me and he said I could ride there, but would like to meet me first.

ONce a year he has a big trail ride hosting the AQHA. People come from all over, they trail ride for 4-5 hours then have a big steak dinner. For everyone without a special invite it's $30. I got a special invite thru Beth:) She said I could bring my girls too. That way too I'll get to meet this guy, then will have acess to his land to ride. He's got something like 2500 acres up there. I've been on it before, just never rode.

BEcky

That is wonderful news, and you cetainly needed some after Belle. It would be so great if you could ride there at any time! 2500 acres sounds like a lot of fun! : )
