*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Never. I actually felt sorry for him that some people were pointing a finger at him. I thought that was terrible. They both had stopped by here a few times when passing on their horses and talk. We never really talked about anything other then horses, but they seemed fine together. I never got the feeling she was afraid of him.

It's just full of mystery. More interesting than some of the other murder mysteries I've read.

Did you know him when the first girlfriend disappeared? And a child?

It's an hour and 20 minutes past feeding time. I'm afraid to leave the house, I don't want to miss the call, and my portable phone batteries are dead.

I am getting that spidy feeling now, that I'm not going to know anything till Mon. gggrrrrrrrrr.

No, we didn't know him then. The girlfriend that was supposedly in the pond had a very young daughter from a pervious marriage/relationship. She was missing too.

I tried to do a search of the local paper to see if I could find an article, but I'm not good at searching, and I can't remember last names, or exact dates. The more I type the more I'm wondering about if you even believe such a story. It really did happen.

The other murder that happened out here was just about as bizaare, (no horse involved tho) but then murders usually are.

I believe the story as you tell it. I seriously think it would make a good novel. You'd be an interesting character in it, seeing them and chit-chatting the day she was killed... bringing him some food, the other intriguing visit later on.

Do you fully believe now that he ~did~ do it? If you didn't believe then, what changed your mind? Might he have killed himself out of grief at being accused?

I just started believeing it after he killed himself, and then I heard that she had told several people out here that if she ever was killed he did it. I hadn't heard that till after he died.

I called the vet again. The receptionist still had not heard from the vet, but said she would call me back even if it was after 5. The horses are fed:)

I think if I was writing the novel, I'd leave room for a little doubt. Just to make it interesting ;~D

LOL..yeah he killed himself when the police was getting ready to drain a pond where they expected to find the girlfriend and her daughter that he had before this one.
Oh I think that I remember that movie. What was the name of it again?

Why did I think that you were talking about a movie for that one post when I was following the rest of them all along? What an idiot. :-)

Well I went on a nice trail ride today for a couple of hours. The horses were all full of themselves and happy to be out of the ring. My trainer took me some place new, and there were a LOT of really steep hills that were a challenge, especially since my horse liked to rush going down them. At one point I felt like the man from snowy river. :-) Of course they weren't that steep, but they were steep enough.

I'd rather go up then down. It can bet a bit hairy going down a steep grade. But then I worry about the horse loosing steam going up too.

There was a movie where someone murdered the the gal and made it look like she fell from the horse.

Don't remember more than that.

I saw something like this story on a forensics show called New Detectives on TLC. It showed a story about a fella who said his wife/girlfriend fell off of a horse and hit the back of her head.

He actually had injected her with something that killed her and then proceeded to smash the back of her head against a large rock to mimic the "fatal" injury.

I vaguely remember the motive being something along the lines of he didn't want to get married??

But Becky's tale is FAR creepier! You're lucky he wasn't crazy enough to take you and Mack too, chica!

Now - that could be what I saw. I remember the scene with her unconscious and him smashing her head on the rock.

I used to watch those shows all of the time and they played that one episode quite a bit.

But no matter how much I google, I can't find an episode listing with descriptions.

I hate that. :P

You mentioned log cabins ....we built a log cabin with a builder Country Log Homes out of Mass, it came complete with EVERYTHING (windows, doors, interior finish etc. The only thing we needed to finish was the bathroom and cupboards in kitchen. It was very reasonable and we couldn't be happier with it. Its not huge 24x32, but suits are needs and we had the Amish put it up. Very reasonable.

I'd be interested to see that movie:)

I've been googling all night every pertinent word I can think of and can't find an article talking about this case. I know the first names and pretty sure of the month, Sept, and have the year narrowed to 92-93 it happened in. But haven't found anything yet.
