The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread FIVE

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Is it gonna ever RAIN today?? We got a bit of rain this morning and it's been rumbling and looking threatening almost all day, but not a drop since early this morning!

When it rains, Steve has to go out and study the run-off...that's his thesis project. It hasn't rained enough for him to do any studying.

Now, we're going to the chinese food place down across Memorial from the church tonight...you know, the new place where the mexican food place used to be? You just watch, the bottom'll fall out right before we go and we won't get to go.

It isn't right now, but I think it will be before long. The guy living in it now wife killed herself last summer. It wouldn't be a good place for what you want. The house is pretty big, I can't imagine him wanting to live there by himself, he's younger then we are. The house is nice, it's the one on the corner of my road, but the land slopes pretty steeply, and the place is a junk pit right now. Has been since these people moved in. Junk cars all over the place. I don't know what he does with them, and more rocks then even we have.

OK - having it happen 'by accident' when they were both out riding sounds a lot more plausible to me than setting it up. I had it wrong in my head, that he was home when he killed her, and tried to set it up so the horse would drag her off. I pictured that not going very well.

I bet he just planned on dumping her body in the lake they were by, but the hores probably took off, and he decided to take his chances with an accident off a horse.

The day it happened they rode past our house and stopped and visited. Asked if we were going to be out riding that day.

I'm trying very hard to sit here patiently waiting on a phone call from the vet..... I don't want to be a pest, but I don't want them to get away from the office today, and I have to wait thru the weekend. I've called once about 2:00 and the vet hadn't come in from farm calls yet.

LOL..yeah he killed himself when the police was getting ready to drain a pond where they expected to find the girlfriend and her daughter that he had before this one.

The guy was bad. But to look at him you would never never suspect. He looked like a little wimpy book smart type person. But neighborhood gossip was this girl told people if I come up dead he did it.....why did she stay with him???

Just talked to an asphalt man that Mack knows who is in Owasso. He said it's raining there a little.

I never heard. It was like once the media reported he was dead, they never said anything else. I've never been able to find out if they even went ahead and drained it.

But since he killed himself, I'd say the bodies were there. He knew he was toast.

It was very bizarre.

The really creepy thing was, Mack and I did not believe the gossip that the guy did it. The day of her funereal we took some food to his house. It took the cops a year to arrest him. ONe night pretty late, like close to 10, about a month before the did arrest him, he showed up here. He had moved away, and we hadn't seen him since the day he brought back my dish after the funereal. Any way he stopped by to ask us if we had heard any gossip lately about the case, did we know if there was any talk that he was the one that had killed her. We told him we had heard a bit when it first happened but it had all died away. Then shortly after we heard on the news he had been arrested. We were shocked.

Fascinating. He thought you were friendly to find out about the gossip, if any... Did you ever get a spidey sense that he was a danger?
