The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread FIVE

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

No, they didn't release any names...they even said "The woman's name has not been released."

But it sounded like she was all alone...

Keep me posted if you hear anything more this...I hate it I can't find a link! I don't even know what channel I was watching, was surfing between the three stations...

Hey, I can tell you she had a big trailer...not a short one like yours...a long one...and that's why I didn't think it was you.

I'm really not sure what kind of trailer she has. I just think it's white.

This one looked white and had louvre-like windows on the side, you know?

I'm not sure when it happened...I kinda thought it happened yesterday, but in hindsight, I really didn't pay any attention to when...just who!

I called the hospital, the lady I know was NOT there. I left her a message on her machine, so maybe she'll call me back and might know something.

I'm not real familiar with this lady, and have never rode with her yet. We've been talking for about a year about getting together to ride:). She lives fairly close to me but doesn't know her way around the trails I ride out here, and wants to learn. She called me about a month ago and said that her and several other ladies have set up the second Wed of every month to meet and go somewhere to ride, and did I want to join them. I had planned on going, but it just didn't work for me this month. It could have been one of the other ladies. Maybe she stayed after the others left....????

That's the main reason I don't like to ride by myself. If something happens, you're just SOL. I hope the lady is ok. Let us know if you find out anything else.

It was Channel 2 News. I've been emailing back and forth with Michelle Lowery. Told her about you and your friends.

Apparently it's not an online story. I asked which hospital for sure.

I'll post what I find out.

I'd think if it was your group, she wouldn't have been alone. The rest of the group would have been with her.

Michelle Lowery just wrote me back again and it was St. Francis they sent her to...they still haven't released her name.

Good Morning... I was reading JustAppaloosas web site today, and came across a horse that was an "F-4". Is that something new for foundation breeding? That is my guess anyhow. They said he was Toby K & Ulrich bred, which would be foundation bloodlines. Ever heard of that before?

I called on this gelding but he is sold... :(

here is one.http://www.forbescopper.com/index.html Do a search for copper treatment for horses and there are several, including the one for rhinos. Most seem UK stuff.

I think that it is saying he has four generations of foundation breeding. There is such a big fight right now in the ApHC over foundation breeding, foundation horses, appXapp breeding - who is closest to purebred, etc.

:) In the fighting, everyone is ignoring the fact that genectists (sic) have determined that the original (?) or old appaloosas are Spanish Mustang breeding with a little dna from Germany and Russia. Their dna points to Iberian horses (Spain/Portugal) which is what the Spanish Mustang is derived from.
