This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Speaking of syringes I now have two empty wormers with the curved tips, washed out and in my first aide kit. I figured I might need them to fill something else with later. I also have an empty tocoprim jar for mixing:')
Well, that's something!
The syringe I use is bigger than a wormer syringe. Bute tabs are big, and by the time I get a tab or two mashed up, and warm water and molasses... I need more capacity. It's either that or have to fill it twice.
I have 60 cc syringes too but I like these caz they bend at a 45 degree angle to go in the mouth. Seemed too good a treasure to throw away.
We have been using pear or apple sauce.
That works... they hate it anyway, but anything to get it in them.

I don't know, I'd go to a doctor just to make sure that there isn't major damage, especially if you said that the knee is all black. That way, she won't do anymore damage that would prevent you from going on the ride... and trust me, I know how you feel, I hate doctors too.

Hey all! I am so excited with my Mothers day present, I just had to share my good news with some other horse friends!! (I haven't posted to the horse thread before, but I have lurked for a while!) My shetland mare gave me a beautiful sorrel and white filly!!! One blue eye, one brown! She is a cutie!! I just had to share!! Nothing could top that for Mothers day!! Thanks for letting me share!!

Have fun! We are seriously looking at prices, area and what acerage we can hope to get for our money. We have to sell the two houses we have here on our land first.
We are also going to sell Lightning, Misty and the two colts. Sadly we dont get the tme to ride and work with them all enough and I want them to have a place where they will get more attention. We are not going to be asking for much.
We are going to be keeping Sugar and Smokey. Big changes going on.........

Our horses actually don't bother with him. He runs around chasing the nanny's anyway! We have rams in there as well and it's funny to watch him take on the rams from time to time. Stands up on his hind legs and let's em have it! Although, the rams win the fights often enough!! Be glad you can't smell him. Ours is a pygmy and for a small goat he has a BIG stink!!
I wish I could.... haven't gone digital with the camera yet!! I have to wait and get the film developed!! LOL! I will try when I get the film done though!!
I've found some really nice places at reasonable prices since I broadened the circle.
