The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread FIVE

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Great pics.

I would just leave them on pasture. That doesn't seem too much in your fotos. They'll have it grazed down quick enough.

Yeah - we can leave them in the paddock. It's just a little small for three, and they bicker and fuss, nip and kick at each other just for something to do. They get stircrazy.

~And~ we've had little luck trying to feed their grain (plain COB now) out there, Bay doesn't stay at his own pan, he steals from the girls, and they end up at his pan getting his pills. So we've been stalling them at least for meals anyhow.

Nice pictures. I am not going to even voice an opinion about if you should worry or not. I've never dealt with founder, I don't have the worry here of too much grass, so I really wouldn't know.

We'e back from computer shopping. I've gotten sleepy from standing around while Mack looked. He got a mini Mac. Most aggravating thing tho. We went to the computer store, I guess there are only 2 stores around here that have these Mac's. One store didn't have the updated ones, and the other store, this really pissed Mack off, wouldn't sell it to him unless he bought the $150 warrenty too. He didn't want it. We left, but after going to a few other places, and no one else having them, he called that store back and talked to the manager. I guess the guy Mack talked to didn't actually work for this store but worked for Apple. The manager said to come back he'd sell us the thing without the warrenty.

ANYway it will probably take him the rest of the day to get it all going. I think he even has to go back and get some type of adapter to hook his keyboard up to it.

Belle looked pretty much the same as she did yesterday. I'm thinking she was always like that, and I just noticed.

How's your mare? Has she re-waxed/

The pasture issue is ironic because a month ago I was whining that it didn't seem to be growing and maybe I should fertilize. It was just too cold still then. If I'd have fertilized I'd really be in a heap of trouble. ;~D Feast or famine around here.

Glad you got the computer... I hope you like the Mac. I know people like them, but you might run across some compatibility issues with things like film clips and with flash animations. Those aren't usually vital to see anyhow.

Becky, congrats on your new purchase! That's rediculous that he wouldn't sell you the thing without the warantee. I hope that you enjoy the computer, they're really nice.
This is a bit off topic, but I'm thinkging about going on a riding holiday in Ireland. What do you all think? I'm in desperate need of a vacation, and I've been dying to travel.

Heh, I'm not looking to jet set, I'm just looking to ride. It's one of the things that I've wanted to do since i was a little kid. I've always wanted to visit Ireland, andI figure on horse back is the best way to go. :-) Of course, this is part whimsy too, don't get me wrong. It's going to take a lot of planning. (And of course, there will be pictures.)

You know, I'm not entirely sure, and there really seems to be a lot of variety. It can be trail rides, or trekks, cross country... the sky seems to be the limit.

Did someone tell you about riding in Ireland. As much as I always wanted to ride as a kid, I never thought about riding in Ireland, or anywhere for that matter as being better then here. You must have had a heck of an imagination:)

I really think a plane would be the best way to go, it'd be a long swim for the horse:)

Just got on here and I'm trying to catch up!
Ireland huh? Where in Ireland are you thinking of going? I'd make sure it was Southern Ireland if I were you, it is completely different from norhtern Ireland. What do you know about Ireland? The food is very different from here, and please don't expect fast food!
If you really want to know more, I can send you some links to rental cottages etc.

I know it is late in the day, but I really hope your children are feeling better. We have had Tommy unwell with a cough and fever for the past 3 days, but thankfully he is doing much better today.
Hope you had a good mothers day!

Actually, I think Beaker is the one that has had too much of something, if she thinks she can get to Ireland on a horse...:)
