If the stallion owner isn't set up to take samples, they are a little hard to get.
Great pictures Emma - thanks for posting them.
Hi Emma:)
Lovely pictures. I like the flower:)
Good to hear from you.
Becky
Ohmygosh!!!! You should have seen the wreck I saw today. You know I said I was riding with my neighbor who had the horse that was so bad that one time. Her name is Tina, her horse is Oreo.
He was bad again today, altho I think Tina started the problem. She committed the mortal sin of mounting her horse with him still tied to the fence. I've seen her do that before, but it's hard to tell some one that that is not right. A T-post barbwire fence. I don't know what started it, but Kristy thinks she pulled back on the reins, anyway the horse freaked, It was by a telephone post too. The horse was jumping back, but the rope jerked him back forward. He crashed hard two times head first into the pole. I don't know how Tina managed to stay on. I thought she was going head first into the pole or off the side onto the Tposts. The halter got pulled so tight on the horse he couldn't breath and just fell over onto his side. Tina's foot was stuck under him. Took her awhile to get it out. Kristy and I got off our horses and went to try to help but our horses started wondering off down the drive. Oreo was still down with the halter pulled tight. Kristy was trying to help her and I was rounding up our horses. Tina finally managed to pull the bridle off, and once it was off, he got up.
She was pretty shook up but got back on. He jigged and spun around all the way down the road which was scary as it was slippery. By the time we got to where the trails started he had finally calmed down. He was fine the rest of the ride. But it was sure a scary start. I hope she learned not to leave her horse tied when she gets on.
Becky
Good grief. I'm so glad it didn't end really bad.
I don't know why her or the horse wasn't hurt bad. It was very scary watching.
Becky
Well, as much weight and muscle was pulling, I wouldn't be surprised that he pulled some muscles in his neck or somwhere. Muscle strains sometimes don't hurt till the next day.
I was thinking from the start of the story that one or both of them was gonna end up in the barbed wire.
I thought the same thing about him being more sore tomorrow. She kept saying she thought at first he might be sore in his back, that was why he was acting so freaked on the road, but I'm like you I figured he would be sore tomorrow, and was just acting out because of the adrenaline rush. We're riding again tomorrow, but she said she would just meet me here. I won't ride up to her house to meet her.
Becky
Takes awhile for the adrenaline to run it's course, yeah.
Those are really good, Emma. I esp like the one of Magic. I really like rabbits.
Why did she have her horse tied? It sounds like a nightmare to me, I am glad that no one was really hurt, especially Kristy and you.
Was it her own horse? If so, isn't he trained to stand still?
I would be apprehensive about going out again.....
I will show Emma your posts when she gets home from school tommorow. She is asleep now. Magic is Jacobs rabbit, they got one each for Christmas. There is a brown and white one, a grey and white (Magic) and a yellow and white one that is Emmas. They take good care of them!
Personally I love rabbit stew! : D
The only time my trainer ever yelled at me was when I thought about tieing a horse up to mount. I got yelled at for just standing there thinking about it:')
I like rabbit stew too as long as it doesn't have a name. I used to go rabbit hunting with my dad. I shined the spot light while he drove and shot:')
Misty got a bit pasture wild whilst we were looking after James parents, so we had to do the hopping around the pen bit with her to get on, after 30 mins of start, hop, stop, she realised that we werent going to let her be and finally decided that standing still was the way to go. : )
Emma... Thanks for the neat pictures... You will enjoy that camera. I think its great you've learned to post photos. It took me quite awhile - I still have to refer to the directions!! Cute rabbit :)
well I got one of the new ab lounge things that i put together earlier, so I am going to work out for a bit on that and the bike before deaconjim gets in.
Have a good evening.

I put Sarah Lee facing the fence so she doesn't have running room. I'm slow but she's usually patient. Every once in awhile she steps out but not much. Usually if she moves it's because I pulled on the reins. It was raining here today so now she's in the barn with the chickens. I may have to unspoil her when all this over:') We thought the same thing about Okie though and he was fine.
That's an idea - I've seen that stuff on road construction sites.... I'll have to check about the wooden posts... Do you think those posts you can stick into the ground with your foot would work? Or would you need to dig with post-hole digger and use larger wooden ones? Thanks again for the idea... we really need to isolate him from the other horses to make progress....
Temp posts are really flimsy. It wouldn't have any strength, and they'd pull in toward the middle.
I'd do it with wooden rounds, and I'd tip them out slightly. Having the posts angled out a little serves to save you from getting a knee mashed against them, but also protects you a little from getting impaled on the top of the post. I'd run the netting two rows high and cut the top of the post even.
