I'm going to try to get a couple hours sleep while Bob keeps an eye on the mare, then up later to watch her. Have a good night.

This is the horse that has always acted like she was starving and always wanting to eat. She isn't eating much now though and I hard a hard time getting her to take it with sweet feed. She ate about 1/2 a scoop. She also bit the end of the water hose and was drinking when I wet her down. I thought that was kind of cute. I wonder if it's something she will continue when she is well.:') Most was running out the sides but I guess it felt good.

good night. Thanks for keeping me company:')
To: CindyDawg
My trying to sleep didn't last long :) - lack of appetite is part of strangles. Several of my horses play with the hose and Indy will drink from a can or bottle. They think it's fun I think.

Cindydawg Morning, Hope your horse is doing better, I did some research last night trying to figure out what is wrong because the vet never called back.......I got onto a site that detailed strangles. What an awful illness. I hope your horse pulls through, prayers from us. Duchess47 Did you have your foal last night? Becky, froginablender Hope you have good news from your vet today.
Misty did ok last night and no signs as of yet of anything wrong. I will be feeding her in about 30 mins and that will tell me a lot. I pray that she is ok and that she just had a severe allergy to something. I am cross the vet didnt even return my calls. Time is so important when an animal is ill. I have never seen so much fluid coming from a horses nostrils like that though. It pooled on the ground all around her. Very frightening. Sharn

Mornin' all,
Hair, the long acting tranquilizer than the vet gave Winnie, the one that was supposed to last 30 days? 2 weeks max, it's out of her system. I'm hand walking her now and she's a total pain in the butt. I'll be so glad when I can work this mare every day, keeping her in a stall is making her nuts.
To: tuffydoodle
How much longer till she can be let out?

She gets hand walked for two weeks then she can be turned out. After two weeks of turn out we can start riding her again. I'll probably start lunging her when she gets turnout.
To: tuffydoodle
Can you give her another shot?

Off topic, but does anyone have any recommendations on a safety vest? I'm taking Waylon down to our cabin this Memorial Day and want to buy one.
After my 4 broken ribs last yr.,I don't want to take any chances. At 59 I can't afford to get thrown or spooked again. I know I"m a wuss but better a wuss than a cripple.

Mornin' ladies.
How are the patients this morning?
I see that the vet didn't call you back, Rose. I'd be pretty hacked off too.

Stateline tack has some. I don't know how easy they are to wear. I thought about a right hip pad. That's my favorite spot to land on:')
To: HairOfTheDog
To be fair to my vet, I told the secratary it was not an emergency and there was no rush for her to call me back.

Mornin'!
I have no idea why a vet wouldn't call back unless he isn't getting his messages. :-/

Understood about not wanting to take a hit. Hunter jumper and eventing people wear a protective vest of some kind. I'd browse through catalogues, might be hard to find a place where you can actually touch them and try on, I know our tack shop doesn't have them in the store.
