Thank you all for the great advice! This should satisfy you a little, 'cause I'm taking it!

I figure this to be @ a two-year project now. I'll go hang with the cowboys up the road - the church, btw, is on CR 917 in Egan, know of it? - and see if someone needs some volunteer 'mucking' (should I say "to get my feet wet"?...nahh).

Y'all are wise and gracious to share with this equine noob. I will approach with caution, and after listening to you, it's great to realize how little I truly know about kids, I mean, err, horses!

I will be checking back to the thread on a regular basis. The recent hail storm hammered us pretty good, but thank God! it coulda' been much, much worse....

God Bless you fine folk!
FRegards,
john

Thanks. It's (l eye la) like in Deliliah. I don't know where they got and afraid to ask.

Very good! The only other advice we have is that whenever you ride, take pictures! We like pics on the thread of folk and their horses.

Cool name! I've wondered where younger parents get names for their kids too. One of my cousins named one of her girls Jacelyn and it's pronounced "Jas-el-len". She named the other one Lakelyn. They're pretty names, but I'd never heard of either one of them. I think she just made them up, but gosh knows I wouldn't ask either. One thing's for sure, you don't have to worry about every other kid in school having the same name when you name them like that. ;o)

Trees practically denuded....looks like the leaves that are left are all tattered. I do wonder how they'll be, as they were pretty nice oaks, and just about all the shade we had!

I didn't notice that all the gutters on the back side of the house were vinyl. They're swiss cheese now, totally useless. Decorative light's globes/bulbs destroyed. All the planting? Well, whatever survived is gonna be hardy stock. Roof? I dunno, it's only @ 2 yrs. old, but judging from all the grit on the ground, I'd guess it's aged 10 years.

Pockmarks in the ground down to a depth of 2 inches! Amazing. Not sure I want to be a witness to those things weighing a 'talent', if you know what I mean...:)

I think when we were growing up there were only about 25 names to choose from and thinking up your own was against some law ;~D

In my job I have to enter a lot of names, and I hardly ever enter a familiar one any more. All kinds of different names and unique spellings of old ones, and it seems to me, last names too have gotten more diverse. It's more than just the Jones and Smiths breeding now ;~D

WOW. How depressing to have that happen, just when people had probably started cleaning up the yard and planting cheerful things for spring. Where are you?

I guess I have found the limit to how many pictures my poor dial up web tv can handle. It won't load anything after post #2675. I can tell from my comments page that you have sent a post to me, but I'm going to have to wait for a new page and then you can repost it, please. There is alot of pictures on this page:) I'm not complaining, everyone still needs to keep posting them:), just letting you know why I can't respond to what ever you posted to me.

Becky

Pics...now there's another thing :). I've also been using binocs lately to watch birds. When I get home, the sharply-angled late afternoon sun reflecting off their colors - bluebirds, cardinals - words just can't describe. It has become my favorite way to 'wind down' after work. So I thought of getting a tripod & a telephoto/digital setup. From what I've seen thru the binocs already, & if I could get a decent photo....I'll definitely be happy to post. It'll be awhile, though. One (that is "I") don't just throw down a pretty chunk 'o change on a whim w/out some research.

Wow! I'd definately demand a new roof from my insurance adjuster, coz I'll bet that one's shot. The trees should recover. They'll put out new leaves. I'm not sure I know what you mean about "weighing a talent". 'Splain pleez. ;o)

I've always had a horror of my horses being out in a hailstorm like that. They have a barn they can get in, but the noise scares them too bad to stay in it. When I hear reports of golfball-sized hail and even softball-sized hail, I can't even imagine what it would be like to be out in that unprotected. I imagine the softball-sized stuff would kill you.

Cleburne....I've been wanting to figure out a way to 'creatively FReep' the Johnson County Dem HQ (right opposite the courthouse) for quite awhile. They have the most irritating signs up in their front window! "Bush lies"...now, it's "Hands Off Social Security". Bah!

Wow! They'd have to be about 6 to 8 gallons each to weigh that much. That'd be the size of a small fishtank. I don't think I'd wanna be around for those either!

I've got someone coming out to look at it. Unless the damge runs into the many thousands, it's not a good idea to file a claim. I won't even call to ask, as the ins. companies frequently log calls of such a nature as 'claims', then use your past 'so-called' history to raise your rates &/or deny coverage for the future. It's a bad racket.

I think the ins. co.'s are getting hit with homeowner claims most heavily, and try to give the impression that it's MVC's, so as to spread out their liability.
