This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
She knows not to give him aspirin, but thanks for the reminder:)
This is a relief, I don't know why, but his hands being so red a puffy really worried me. Thanks again for the info:)

Ok, thanks for "that" info too:) Tomorrow is feed store day, so I'm going to check to see if they have any. Might be easier then Maalox...he's getting to where he walks away from me when I get the halter:)...and I bought the mint flavored kind too.

I was reading the posts about the sick baby then duchess suggesting probios, which comes in paste like a wormer. I thought I was reading about a new horse med that you could also use on kids.
Try giving him yogurt....the kind with 'live' yougurt cultures.
You can mix a little instant pudding mix OR cornstarch into the yogurt.
this slapped look disease was the first thing I thought of too, the other was that maybe he is having a allergic reaction to the pedialite. Has he been given it before?
If it is the slapped cheek thing, it is contagious. Does he have a fever? I would take him to his doctor or a med stop just to be on the safe side. Children are so worrysome, especially taht age when they can't really tell you how they are feeling. Sorry I can't be more help, as Hair would say " photos mean more than a thousand words".
Sorry but I thought as she wasn't here I would add that!
: D
REMEMBER that tomorrow is Good Friday....be mindful and respectful of Noon till 3 p.m.
Just another though, has he had any routine immunisations like for chicken pox etc from his doctor in the past two weeks? Sometimes bad reactions don't show up till a couple of weeks after they have had them.

Oops I'm seeing double again, I really need to lay of the coffee! : )
Did you see the post about me riding last night? Surprising, I was not sore today.
I saw your post and thought that was great - also thought what a coincidence, I crawled up on a horse for a couple of minutes last weekend. I hope you can get back to riding :)
If this crazy weather would get better, I would ride more. The Arabian is going to a trainer in two weeks, plus my friend who was hurt, has a couple that I could ride. As far as getting my own horse again, I just don't know. I attend a lot of trap shooting tournaments, and there is just not enough time, for both hobbies. Unless of course, if I retire early...lol
:)
Wouldn't that be nice - retiring early :)
You still up?
Good morning.
Thanks again for the info about fifths diseise. The picture looks just like JP's rash.
Sorry I CAN"T get a picture, my camera is still not working. I'm hoping to get that fixed tomorrow.
Raining again here.
