*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

:( Pretty mountains covered with snow. I really hate winter.

Speed has the cutest baby face with her little pink muzzle. Those ears are adorable.

Well, then maybe you won't have a water shortage this summer.

Hey everyone,
I just got back from the barn and had a wonderful ride. The weather is beautiful. (Sorry Duchess) It's in the 60s and sunny. One day it's freezing cold and the next it's spring. I think it's Mark Twain that said: "If you don't like New England weather, wait a minute."

I'm glad you had a good one. What(who) did you ride and where'd you go?

I did ring work today. Wanted to go on a trail ride, but I really needed to take adavantage of the good weather and get down to business. I rode Banjo. I want to start riding Tammy, who's another horse that my trainer has, but right now my leg isn't strong enough.

Hahaha nothing is wrong with my leg. No worries. What I meant was that my leg muscles aren't strong enough for me to be able to ride that horse without "beng taken for a ride" myself. :-) I'm out of shape.

my roses, azaleas, columbines are all flowering! : )
We have just got back from a day trip to Callaway gardens in GA. It was beautiful. The kids loved it especially the butterfly house and the birds of prey.
Your little foal looks beautiful!
Here is a link to a thread deaconjim showed me, what a laugh. So true though. It's about men not asking for directions.

Since you mentioned pictures :) Here's an oddity. The closest thing I can find to it is a wild bay gene, but that doesn't have the stripe up the back I don't think. I'll have to check.

Just got back last night. Going to Austin and sitting in class are my least favorite things to do. Congratulations on the babies. We have a new one at the stables too. She is so tiny and such a cutie also. She will come right up to you.

Okie and Sarah Lee did something cute today too. I put a pan of 1/2 scoop of feed for Okie. After a little of it he went back to eating grass. Sarah Lee gave him a wide bearth but came around and started eating his feed. He walked over and I figured fireworks but he just put his head down and they ate together out of the same pan at the same time. Isn't that unusual?

Infection control. I learned a lot but as you know , bug stuff can get real heavy, esp after lunch:') Two of the lectures were about bio- terrorism and community response and that was very interesting. Did you know that Galveston setting up a disease lab? They are suppose to have everything but small pox there.

Good morning,
RE the pictures :) Filly has the oddest leg markings I've seen. 'Course I'm only used to appys so maybe this shows up in some other breed, but all the way around her hoof, all four feet is black, then on the backs of her legs it extends up over her pastern.
