This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Yep, got quite a squall line heading our way...been blowing a gale here all day. I got the clothes off the line and the chickens locked up in their coop.
70mph winds. Just heard.
You two get everything battened down!
It's kinda curving down below me, probably already hitting Becky...
Hope she got everything battened down before it hit. Those are some pretty serious winds.
Wow! Y'all do have quite a bad line of storms forming out there. The eye of the low looks like it's spinning right over the panhandle and pushing that squall line out in front of it. We're supposed to get it tonight, but it's clear as a bell here right now. Take care!
Tornado warning N of Tulsa now...
You won't believe this from looking at the radar on TV, but we just barely got a few sprinkles. I didn't even realize the weather was bad. I was napping on the swing on the patio:)
Just came in to start supper, turned on the web and saw your posts 2J, figured I'd better check. I don't know why we haven't gotten drenched but so far the patio is not even completly wet.
Becky
Weather is sure quirky.
It sure is this time:)
Becky
The air smells like rain and it's lightening and such, but we've got nary a drop!
That's just fine with me!
oops...spoke too soon...here it comes. Not hard though.
Apparently a freeper got his car demolished by hail...do you get the local posts?
Well, good for you! It might have been a rude awakening on the porch! How bout choctasquaw and your kids? Did it hit them?
I think you being down in the valley get worse winds then we do up here. It hasn't blown any more today then it has all week.
I've wondered every spring if us being up on this hill is what saves us every year. It seems like storms always head straigt for us then part and go on either side. The always hit to the north or south of us down off the mountain.
Becky
I don't know. I haven't heard anything. No news is good news:)
I'm glad they got CS's house finished if the wind did come thru there.
Becky
I bet you're right. It has blown so hard today that my clothes on the line were horizontal!
No, I don't get the local posts???
Too bad about his car tho.
It's thundering here a bit, but I think we've seen the last of that one squall line here. Looks like some more headed this way later tho.
Becky
Go here, if you want to set it up so you get the local posts...

Click on "Set my locale" or something like that. It should set it for you.
Then I'll post something and you will get it on your "My Comments" page in a little box.
Oh, no...it's under the flag on that link I gave you...it should say...

I have an on-going "discussion" with horse people and never fails, I can identify what a horse is being fed just by looking at them. Bay is gorgeous, I hope he has many, many years ahead. (I hope my 2 Arabs make it to 22! It doesn't matter to me what they look like as long as they're healthy and, I know they will always be loved. ;) (But, of course, they are gorgeous, not that I'm biased. ;)
Anne Best regards.
Well, if he still looks to be in good condition, I'd have to credit much of that to just good genes. :~D
It's not anything I do, beyond providing good feed, shelter, room to run (and younger pasture mates to keep up with) and lately, only occasional riding.
I expect he'll get more riding this summer, if he's ready for it!
