American TV host Oprah Winfrey is ditching the high life to star in a poverty striken TV reality series.
The 51 year old media mogul, with an estimated net worth of 300 million, has agreed to live a life of poverty in the hard hitting documentary.
Winfrey will reside in a high rise apartment in a notoriously tough Chicago, Illinois, neighborhood for one month. The series plans to highlight America's inner city housing 'crisis.'
A spokeswoman for Harpo Productions says that Oprah has ' Interviewed just about every major celebrity and done shows on almost every topic imaginable. But now she intends to tackle really tough, serious issues, putting herself right on the front line.
But to ensure Winfrey's safety, she will be shadowed by security guards during her stay. But the spokesperson adds, 'In every other respect she will have to fend for herself, just like many people who have to live in these substandard conditions.'

The key part about being poor is not that you sit on a lumpy couch and eat Kraft Dinners, it's that you know you'll be doing it for the rest of your life.
She'll lose some weight and bounce back.
That Chicago housing project is going to look like an FBI field office after she gets done...lol!
Oprah has been dirt poor. That's why she enjoys being rich now. This is meaningless gesture unless she's prepared to address the issues of why the people are there in the first place. It's mostly a self imposed prison.

How about this instead Oprah, take your billion dollars and give it to the poor and live on 75,000 a year in a modest neighborhood and continue to give your earnings away to help these people. No doubt this will just be propaganda on how bad America is. I guess Martin Sheen will have to out do her by living like a bum for a month. Maybe Sean Penn will live in the Gaza Strip for a month.
I'm sure that after the show airs, the bleeding heart liberals will be demanding even more money for government subsidized housing for the inner cities. Prepare for the victim lobby to be out in full force.
She's looking better than I've seen in awhile. LOL
Many of the women she'll be around aren't on her level. They're the same ones who don't watch Oprah because they think Oprah isn't down for the ghetto. The women will probably be relieved she's there because it won't mean taking your life in your hands when you ride the elevator.
That was my first thought. I wonder if this will turn into a series about how corporate, white America forgot about the inner cities. Inner city crime is the fault of everyone except the people who live there committing the crimes.

Skippy already did this years ago in Chicago. He'd play a bum during the day and go home to his posh apartment at night. Let's see where Oprah sleeps.
Imagine your living in the ghetto and a famous billionaire moves in to prove how empathetic she is. One less apartment for an actual poor person to live in. I wonder if she'll let the crackhead she kicks out run her show for the month she is gone.
She's already hilarious fodder for parody on Saturday Night Live.
Normal people don't want to stay in the ghetto. There was a family featured on Extreme Makeover:Home Edition that came from a housing project. The lady was otherwise nice but the EMTs refused to come into the building and her son died. So she scraped together every penny she had and moved to the suburbs. Her kids were really nice too, the kind of kids that would get turned into mince meat in the ghetto.
Yes it does. Oprah, turning normally sensible women into blubbering liberals for 20 years!
It's going to be safer in Oprah's building than on Michigan Avenue!
