TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/

March 19, 2005

VERSE:
The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack of judgment.

-- Proverbs 10:21
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Proverbs+10:21

THOUGHT:
Righteous people have a way of blessing others with their words.

It may be their word of encouragement, their carefully chosen speech, their advice full of wisdom, their message of comfort, their truth in teaching, or their faithfulness to their promises.

No matter what form, the words of righteous people are a blessing.

But fools don't listen to the righteous. They plot their own course refusing truth, wisdom, and godliness only to find their lives lost to meaninglessness and folly.

PRAYER:
Father God, Author of all truth and wisdom, please give me the ability to discern those around me who are truly righteous and the wisdom to listen to what they say. Please help me avoid the pitfalls of pride and arrogance as I humbly seek to hear your truth in those whose lives are conformed to your character. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

It is MORE than a little surreal watching the big earthquake movie "10.5" on the USA network against the backdrop of this thread.

It does a pretty good jove of:

1) Showing that God controls the affairs of men--not man. And that short of Loving Him, and abiding in Him, there's NO security.

2) Our best and brightest are not only flawed but pretty ignorant when it comes to such forces.

3) There's great good in virtually the worts of us and plenty of perverseness in the best of us.

4) God's priority of loving one another is pretty crucial--all the time.

I think the film is good preparation for the future.

It has hokey parts on trying to stop such a massive set of forces with nukes--but hey, I can give groping plot writers some grace.

It's still a good prep for the future.

Blessings,
