You are sadly correct, and probably have gotten well-flamed for expressing this. This child, for all his talent, was most likely a little god in his own eyes. This perception was continually enforced by authority figures around him and fed upon itself. It is the pride - the first evil - that dwells in every one of us.
Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

(You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.)

Heh.. sounds like you are the one playing God here. You are passing quite a bit of judgment and asserting a lot of knowledge about this young boy while the rest of us know so little.
Why is it that the zealots always come off as cold, callous and unforgiving when the claimed cornerstone of their religious beliefs, Jesus, taught forgiveness and compassion?

Very true. In today's PC touchy feely world we'd like to believe that a lot of God's rules don't apply, especially those hard and mean ones, you know, like suicide. With so many suicides we'd like to believe that it'll be a ok on the other side. You want to cut down suicides? Tell the truth of their costs.
