Former Korn guitarist and born again Christian Brian "Head" Welch says he wants to save rapper 50 Cent, according to MTV.com. Welch said in an email that while in Israel recently to be baptized, he wrote a song that he described as a "personal letter to 50 from God." Welch added that he will give the song to 50 privately and see how he reacts to it: "If it's a positive reaction and he's willing to talk to me, then I'm not gonna release it, but if the reaction is not positive, I'm going to share it with the world."
Welch also said that he's written a song called "A Letter To Dimebag" as a tribute to late Pantera and Damageplan guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. Welch told MTV.com, "It's a guitar-solo instrumental...I wrote it for Dimebag because he always used to tell (Korn guitarist) Munky and I to put guitar solos in Korn's music."
There's no word on when Welch's first solo album will see the light of day, although recording is nearly complete. He has not signed a new record deal and initially plans to sell the album through his website, headtochrist.com.
Meanwhile, Welch was perhaps a little less Christian in remarks directed at his former bandmate, Korn singer Jonathan Davis. Davis recently called Welch's conversion to Christianity a "false crusade," to which Welch shot back: "Sorry Jonathan, my 'false crusade' was not the reason I left Korn, it was what saved my life. I still love those guys to death, but if anybody trashes God, I am human and will defend Him and myself by any means necessary."
Why all the amateur humor on this thread, IMO, most of these "to be funny" responses are getting tired. Give this guy a break, just maybe he is trying to repent and do some good...
"Rap is like every other business..." I certainly don't agree and cannot understand how you can paint all legitimate business with this brush! May be time to broaden the reading list beyond Karl Marx?
