THE LAW IS THE LAW!!

THE LAW IS THE LAW

So if the US government determines that it is against the law for the words "under God" to be on our money,

then, so be it.

And if that same government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on a government installation,

then, so be it.

And since they already have prohibited any prayer in the schools, on which they deem their authority,

then so be it.

I say, "so be it," because 'I would like to be a law abiding US citizen.'

I say, "so be it," because 'I would like to think' that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions.

I would like to think that those people have the American Publics' best interests at heart.

BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I'D LIKE?

Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot Post His Commandments in Government buildings,

I don't believe the Government and it's employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of American life.

I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter.

After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays.

After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break."

After all it's just another da.

I'm thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter.

It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct."

In fact....

I think that our government should work on Sundays (initially set aside for worshipping God...) because, after all,

our government says that it should be just another day....

What do you all think????

If this idea gets to enough people, maybe our elected officials will stop giving in to the minority opinions and begin, once again, to represent the 'majority' of ALL of the American people.

SO BE IT...........

Please Dear Lord,

Give us the help needed to keep you in our country!

'Amen' and 'Amen'

Touche!

These are definitely things many never thought about but from now on, I think we should be sure to questions those in government who support these changes.

At the top, it says "I hope this makes its way around the USA several times over!!!!!"

Let's see that it does. Place this in your mailbox and keep it in your mailbox and resend it whenever someone new comes along.

I don't see anything changing. We live in a RED state (every town, every county) and Tom Coburn is our new Senator.

Last Tuesday, I attended my youngest child's concert wherein they said the Pledge of Allegiance, a prayer, sang several Patriotic songs including the National Anthem and the state song was soloed by a beautiful beautifully voiced little girl. The kids all wore red white and blue clothing.

Oh, did I mention that the event was held at an Evangelical Church? Yeah, God ain't present at my kids' "publick skools."

There is nothing at all wrong with a society whose members are overwhelmingly adherents to a particular religion to establish national holidays for all to observe. Those who are non-adherents can respectfully rest and reflect and recreate in their own ways if they wish to. No one is being forced to offer worship or praise in any particular fashion.

My kids can and do pray in their public school. Do your homework before you post bogus emails, thank you.

Then lucky you. A lot of schools have prohibitions about praying in schools and the list is growing every day. You should do your homework before you jump on someone and call their postings bogus!

So why aren't you working every Sunday, why are you taking Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving Days off? Why don't you practice what you preach. Bigot!!

fellow Freeper, i do not want a fight with you about holidays. my posting was in jest. please accept my apologies if i have offened you.

Where do you live? I moved on purpose so that my kids would have the freedom that they do.

FWIW, I grew up and went to school in California and have raised my children in California, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma. The Union is not a monolith.

I am totally sick of the public school bashing that goes on on this forum.

You mean government schools. And why do you call legitimate criticism, bashing? I think the public school system is one of the greatest failures in America. If you disagree let's start a thread and see why.

It' 11 pm on the East Coast. You have all night to think of a reply because I am going to bed.

Go to bed, you chicken. I've had kids in public and private schools for over twenty years. Call me on where I'm wrong.

I am totally sick of the public school bashing that goes on on this forum.

How many public school teachers enroll their kids in - public school? How many parents with vouchers would prefer to keep their own kids in - public school? Is that "bashing"? Have I bashed? Clubbed? Assaulted? Attacked? Beaten? Bloodied? That is what bash means, isn't it?

I went to an all male public high school.

ROTC was required from 10th grade to graduation.

Discipline was tight and students were polite.

That was 35 years ago. Times changed...teachers innovated themselves to the point irrelevance to their students.

The downturn in teacher quality coincided with the advent of the teachers union. It became chic for academia to lap up the pap fed to them by socialist Utopians. Now we have the stupidest students per capita then any nation in the developed world. There is a connection.

'While many of our schools appear to avoid solid academic training in favor of 'self-esteem' training, this must be working since in the latest round of international tests American students led the world in one department: 'self-esteem.' As in previous international tests, American students had the highest perception of how well they had done. 70% said they thought they had done well. This would be comic if it were not so tragic. While there are many particular things that can be criticized in our public schools, many critics often miss the point when they fail to see that the key to all these counterproductive policies are the people who make them. If we purged our public schools of all the silliness there today, we would have accomplished little if the same kinds of people were left in place to bring in new non-academic nonsense tomorrow. Raising teacher salaries will not fix it.' (Professor Thomas Sowell).

I really doubt that this is the case. Do you have source for this claim?

If she says she has had a good experience with the schools her children attend I have no reason to doubt her.

There are doubtless some fine public schools in this country but they are not the norm.

Over-all, by any measurable standard, our public schools do a poor job educating our students. It really isn't even a matter of debate so much as it is a matter of documented facts. At this point we should be long past the point of acceptance of these facts and the debate should center on how to repair the damage done. If we start now, the process will still take decades to correct all the pathologies that are inherent in todays edu. system.
