Da orange-and-yella striped bags stand aht on da bread shelves of local supermarkets, as they have fer decades. But dere's sumpin differnt abaht Braun's Tahn Talk dese days.
Red, blue and yella balloons now appear on da same package. Ats fair notice that Picksburg's longtime favert white bread -- baked here fer a coon's age -- soon will take on da nationally known Wunner Bread name.
"Tahn Talk was a part of childhood if yinz grew up in Picksburg," Marge Snyder, 58, of Shaieside, says Mundy as she walked past dozens of brands and flavors of breads at da new Shop 'n Save store in S'liberty (where the Phar-Mor usetto be).
Anyone who lived in Western Pensivania in da '40s, '50s and later probaly 'members Wunner and a few other white breads 'nat too. But fer most families, Tahn Talk was da basic bread on da kitchen countertop fer making da morning toast and lunchtime cheese sammitches 'nat.
Ats hauscome Innerstate Bakeries Corp. of Kansas City, Mo., is so pokey in phasing aht da Tahn Talk name....

There's an Isaly's dahn Wash Pa where I get my chipchop ham, 'n'at, so maybe I'll pick up sommat Tahn Talk bread tamarrah an' make sammiches for ol times sake, 'n'at.
Who's old enough to remember Richie Hebner saying "Not the bread the wrappers" in the old Town Talk commercials. Ah, the good old days save six wrappers and get a general admission ticket to a Bucco game.
And Bob Prince called it the 'Miracle of the loaves' when they filled the upper deck of Three Rivers...of course, I heard this when I was in utero...
