((( American Idol Ping )))

Hi everybody! This is a low-volume list.
Names are pinged only on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, coinciding with the live AI shows.
If theres an AI related story or thread that you think would be of interest, please post a link or an excerpt here on this thread.
Thanks.
And as always, if you want on or off this ping list, just let me know.

Good evening, jonny and all AI fans. So what's the consensus of who gets kicked off this week?

Thanks for the ping. I am very much out of commission tonight w/ laryngitis and bronchitis, so I will be sittin' in bed watching AI. I've been thinking about a point someone made last week about this show pitting semi-pros against amateurs (Nadia/Bo/Constantine vs. Scott/Carrie/etc.) and have decided to vote for the amateur I think does the best job each week.

I'm just thankful nobody sang any Celine Dion, esp. "My Heart Will Go On"... but I better not give Lt. Dan any ideas.
Prediction
Bottom Three: Scott, Anthony, Nadia (she always looks like she's going to murder someone in the audience. Very angry looking when she sings. She scares me more than Slingblade does...)
Going home: Scott

Thank you
American Idol for this forced reminder that 90's music completely sucks. That aside, there were some strong performances... in the second half of the show.
My rankings for the evening:
- Nikko -- He just blew me away. I didn't like the song (see initial comments), but he simply nailed it. What Simon said last week about Bo performing rather than competing seems to apply here. (Oddly, Mrs. kevkrom did not like Nikko's performance at all.)
- Vonzell -- Doing "Whitney" is hard. Doing it well is even harder. So despite a somewhat rocky beginning, Vonzell gets a lot of credit from me on this performance, because most of it was spot-on. I loved the transition, as well.
- Carrie -- Rock-solid as usual, the only possible weaknesses are when she gets into the lower end of her lower register (things get a little weaker and muddy), and she needs a little more stage "presence". At this stage of the competition, these are nit-picks.
- Anthony -- So, the real Anthony finally shows up! He still looks unconvincing (read: like a dork), but after yet another rocky start, nailed the song.
- Nadia -- Excellent song choice, ans another good performance, but I worry about the quality of the voice... sure, she hit the notes, but the vocal quality changes when she goes for the higher notes. I may have ranked her higher except I think this might be as well as she could possibly sing, and I don't see any room for improvement.
- Jessica -- So much for the appearance improvement from last week. And another horrid transition within the song -- she really needs to do better with her "cuts" because they are completely throwing off any flow in her singing, which is otherwise quite good.
- Constantine -- Good risk, interesting song choice, especially considering that the 90's should have played well to him. A better performance from last week from a technical standpoint, but still left me feeling "so what"?
- Anwar -- If it was just on the last 30 seconds, he'd be near the top. Unfortunately for Anwar, he's singing for a lot longer than that, and the rest is tedious.
- Bo -- 9th? Yes, unfortunately... I didn't like the look, there was no risk or challenge in this song whatsoever, and even with that, it wasn't his best performance... and here's a guy who needs to bring his vocal "A" game every time, because it is his weakness. I never thought I'd say this, but I thought Bo was dull tonight.
- Scott -- What happened??? Pitch was all over the place, his vocal quality sounded thin and weak, and he had roughly zero empathy up there. I know he is better than this, but it sure didn't show up.
Despite the rankings, expect the bottom 3 to be Scott, Jessica, and ... I'm not sure. The third one will be the one given the first trip back to the other contestants.
