I've never regretted any of my trips to the US - so I expect you to return the compliment ~hands on me hips~ *LOL* :-)

LOL! I would LOVE to take a looooong tour of Ireland, England and Scotland. We are trying to save for a house, so it's not in the cards right now. :-( But mark my words- we are going to get there someday!!

Morning, Wolfstar :)

I didn't think those new Idol songs last night were very good at all. I wanted to hear something that would make my hair stand on end, like the songs that Kelly and Fantasia sang in their finale, but these new songs weren't even close. The only memorable performance, I thought, was Bo's version of "In Your Heaven", or whatever it's called, but that was only so-so.

You're right, I think Bo may have won last week with his unplugged tune. That was an awesome performance and I'm sure it factored into the final voting more than last night's bland offerings.

(Side note: I think it's a dirty trick, suddenly surprising the final two singers with that huge crowd in the Kodak Theater. Poor Carrie was shaking like a leaf and even Simon noticed that, for the first time, Bo was nervous. That huge crowd looked and sounded great on TV, but for the performers' sake, I wished they would've stayed in the regular AI theater.)

Like you, I don't know who'll win. Whoever it is, maybe they'll be able to tweak those new Idol songs so that they're more pleasing to listen to.

Hope to see you around tonight (and I hope you're enjoying you're new job :)

Jonny

Preach it! I am so NOT looking forward to seeing her tonight. I can only imagine what it's going to be like. Did you notice how she was John Kerry Orange last night.

BTW, do you think we could lobby Crayola to make that the name of a crayon? ;-)

Good morning, texasflower. Sorry I haven't been around much. Just started a new job a week ago, and it's putting a big crimp in the amount of time I can spend online. Anyway, Kelly is indeed doing really well.

I happened to notice someone -- was it you, A CA Guy? -- who said they saw Kelly recently and she is heavy. Nonsense! I, for one, hope the rail-thin anorexic look goes the way of the horse-and-buggy real soon. Although Kelly is not a classic beauty, she's certainly a pretty young woman. More to the point, she's exceptionally talented.

I don't have time right now to list all of her achievements, but regarding her looks, she just got one of the most coveted advertising gigs of all: she's the new "Got Milk -- Milk Moustache" girl.

As to talent, her 2nd album is well on its way to triple platinum and is still in the top 15 on the Billboard charts more than six months after its release. Her third single off the album is on its way to becoming the third #1 single in a row from it. Her song-writing abilities were recognized in that the world's leading song publisher snapped up a deal to co-produce songs she writes. She's just finishing up her first solo tour, which she played to sold-out venues around the country and in Canada. The tour was so successful that they are doing an extension this summer.

Kelly was the #1 pop female solo artist for months, until new releases by Gwen Stefani and Mariah Carey came out. Kelly has recently moved into 2nd place, all time, behind Celine Dion for the number of consecutive weeks one of her songs was #1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts (and it's still #1).

The girl is working very hard and is on her way to superstardom. But best of all, Kelly is a committed Christian. She had a cross tatooed inside one of her wrists because, she said, it keeps her humble.

Good morning, Jonny. I wanted to jump online before going to work in case you saw and responded to my post last night. Re the new job, I don't know about enjoying it, but it sure beats unemployment.

"In Your Heaven," or, as you said, whatever it's called: I agree. The only memorable performance of the new songs was Bo's version. I still hear it in my head this morning, even though I don't like the song and can't remember much of the lyrics.

More than putting the singers in front of that huge crowd, I think the dirtiest trick is to give them such lousy songs to sing on the most important night of the competition. Not only that, but to make both songs cheesey power ballads wasn't fair to either contestant: not to Carrie, because it played to her strength and didn't stretch her, which she needed to do a little bit last night. And not to Bo, because those songs are SO not suited to his style at all.

The reason I think Bo will win is because the local news chattering heads are all ga-ga over him. They haven't been wrong yet. I saw Sam Rubin from our local KTLA Channel 5 in the audience last night. He's a well-connected entertainment reporter, a long-time fixture here in L.A. He and the entire Channel 5 crew think Bo is the best thing since sliced bread. They weren't talking that way just a couple of weeks ago. What turned them on to him was his great performance last week. That's what formed my opinion about what I think will happen tonight and why.

"See" you tonight. In my opinion, both Carrie and Bo deserve to win -- and both will be winners no matter what happens tonight.

Noun 1. torch song - a popular song concerned with disappointment in love

Usually slow and teary. Example: Love has no pride, Desparado, or pretty much every country song (You left me so I'm cryin')

Southern rock is due for a major comeback. I'd like to see Bo do some outlaw country a la Waylon Jennings. (I just bought the debut CD of Waylon and Jessi Colter's boy, 26-year-old Shooter Jennings. It's hot.)

I have to wait until Saturday to see this here in Ireland.

Cool, that we have FReepers in the Emerald Isle...who are also Idol fans.

Yeah, that would be great. I love old Waylon songs. I saw a Shooter Jennings video and liked the song, but was waiting to hear how the rest of the cd was before buying it. Off topic- Shooter dates Adrienna from The Sopranos.

Shooter dates Adrienna from The Sopranos.

Yes, he considers her his "muse" and says she suggested the risqué title of his album, "Put the "O" back in country." He says he's tired of country music sounding like the same tired group of Nashville songwriters sitting together and penning a song about a miscarriage.

His CD is very listenable. Reminds me of the stuff I used to listen to in college (and I'm not givin' out the era I wuz in college.)

I don't know "music" except what I like....but I think that poster may have a good point. Carrie needs some work on her stage performance. I have no clue who will win....it was so close this year!

I didn't like that song about "I wannabe in your Heaven". It was sickeningly sweet and cloying, and it sounded like a thousand ballads that came before it.

I bet silent jonny, wolfstar. and kevkrom could write better lyrics.

Oh, Lord! Is Mikalah singing tonight? I'll have to wait until she comes onstage...and then take my "potty break".

I clicked over to AI for a couple of minutes last night and heard nothing that made me enthusiastic about either contestant, therefore I don't care who wins.

Yep, Kelly's two top ten pop songs in recent years is far better than most could ever hope for in one career.
I do expect her to give us more hits as well.

She is a tank though. I saw her live and of course it is what it is.

Good luck with your new job by the way. Hope you are lucky enough to be getting all nice people to deal with there.
