Good evening. Drudge says it was an earthquake centered in Tampa. Go figure.

5.56mm

The only reason I found it was because I was looking for a rumble, or gang fight. That was the picture that came up for gang fight. Honest!

Leni, I heard it all the way up in Hudson. My cats went nuts. I thought it was a small earthquake. My whole house vibrated.

F-18 Flyover

People living in Pinellas County got an unexpected shock tonight. Several people called us in the newsroom claiming they heard a loud boom and felt their homes shake. It wasn't an earthquake... but it was two Navy F-18 jets flying to MacDill Air Force base from Pensacola. A MacDill spokesman says the jets went super sonic over the gulf of Mexico. In fact the u-s geological society says the sonic boom registered at least a 2-point 7 on the Richter scale. MacDill says they are checking in to any rules violations.

I will be happy to tell you all what transpired that evening if you like. First I live about 5 miles east of Macdill AFB across the bay. We are well aware of launches and landings as were are below the final approach path. At approximately 7:45 pm EST on 3-11 a rumble was heard across central Florida. The mediaopoly is trying to tell us it was a sonic boom. Let us look at this first, yes; it is called a sonic BOOM not a sonic rumble. Here is all the evidence I have, witnessed by at least four other people as we ran outside about 10s into the incident...

The initial incident occurred at 7:45 pm EST. The rumble lasted anywhere from 20 to 30 seconds. Now this was no normal rumble, it oscillated in frequency. Two f-18 fighter jets were seen while the rumble was still occurring, hauling butt to the north. Approximately 1.5 minutes later a large radar plane was seen headed in a northerly direction, the launch location of these planes is uncertain; it was not until 1.5 minutes after the radar plane that the f-18 fighter jets were launched from Macdill AFB also in a northerly direction. The radar plane remained in the skies for most of the night, and overall air traffic was greatly increased. While watching the f-18 fighter jets; because they're so cool, a fresh vapor trail was seen approximately 2 miles into the bay. It was approximately 1,000 ft in diameter, 2.5 miles long and 6,000 ft high running north to south. Now given more evidence...what do you think??

I, too, have heard lots of sonic booms, as have my friends.

Everybody we talked to said it didn't sound like a sonic boom to them, it lasted long and like you said, it rumbled.

I asked my husband how many sonic booms register with the USGS (originally they had posted it as an earthquake).

You mentioned the vapor trail over the bay, what do you think it was?

In my opinion, something VERY large flew over the gulf. I have been presented with another opinion that something VERY large took off from the AFB.

Contrail description sounds like a Pulse Wave Detonation propulsion contrail.
But supposedly such radical aircraft propulasion is years away.

But that gets on the bare edge of tinfoiler stuff to talk about.
I'd say that it's possible some gov bird of some kind that can go really really fast went through.

I certainly hope so, something that large, and evidently quite uninvited, might pose a small problem...And I would hate to think I missed my ride.

You think I'm kidding... if I could craft a sculpture of a thumb out big enough to been seen from space I would.

No, I don't think you're kidding.
But the mental image was quite amusing.
(I'd get kicked off for terrible driving.)

Supposedly there's a humongous aircraft called 'brilliant buzzard'.
Some have claimed to have seen it, and describe it as being somewhat bigger than the old XB-70 Valkyrie.

(XB-70 could do Mach 3. Quite fast by the standards of that day.)

I wouldn't be surprised, personally, if the aircraft did exist and was in use.
Though I'd be massively surprised if it was ever mentioned officially.

But it would be nice to see such an aircraft and be able to walk around it.

Of course, pre-flight ground inspection.

I Live in Lutz, a town north of Tampa. I was in my vehicle during this incident. I observed an unknown type of aircraft flying at low levels over my subdivision. The craft was flying at very low speeds also between 60mph to 75mph. I am a retired police officer and I have been trained how mesure and guess ground speeds, so I know I am in the ball park for the true speed. The craft was at about 500 feet above the ground. What made me look at this craft was the lights, at the ends of the craft, the lights were pointed up like lanterns and were visable from 360 degrees, these were not landing lights. Also there were anywhere from 4 to 10 lights in the body of the craft that changed in color, intesity, and location. I heard no noise as the craft approached but as the craft was close/almost overhead, it sounded like an avalanche, not like jet engines, or a rotary aircraft. The aircraft came from the East and moved northeast and the turned and moved south/southwest along us Highway 41. as the craft traveled south, two aircraft came from the west and turned south and followed the unidentified craft. My wife was at home and under the flight path of the craft and as it passed it shook our entire house for 30 to 45 seconds. Shortly after the incident, 15 minutes after, the news stations had already recieved a press release about 2 F18's, that is fast for an Airforce press release. The next day all of my trees had had been shaken and all dead leaves and branches had fallen off. After 15 years Military and civillian law enforcement i have never seen or felt anything like this. And this is not the first time that this happened in our area.

if anyone has any info email me at Jasestrong@aol.com

Jason
