rummage...rummage...rummage...somewhere around here I've got an article I once wrote about my "things I want to do before I die list."
As I get older, it's been modified slightly. "Hike the Grand Canyon" has been replaced by "Raft the Grand Canyon."
It's funny tho. I told my Mom the other day that we'd decided to let Jr. go back to Brazil since his heart was set on that.
She said "He'll get over it. You got over not going to Spain, didn't you?"
Actually no, Mom, I never did. Funny how, 30 years later, that still stings.
Good morning everyone! Welcome back, Hair!
It's really sunny out and the wind is still blowing like crazy.
LAUNDRY DAY! heh heh!
It's so true. There are things that you don't "get over". You will always regret and maybe even resent it.
You can carry that all your life and it shapes your own parenting style as well.
Becky gets treated quite differently than I was as a child. She gets more explanation as to "why" she cannot or must do certain things and I do indulge her whenever possible.
It may bite me in the rear later on in life, but knowing how much it hurts to consistently be refused what you enjoy - I simply cannot put her through it just because it's inconvenient or boring to me.
