The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I think it's going a little slow. I'm still giving $1/day, but people are disgruntled.

I'm just gonna wait a bit to start a new thread so we aren't stuck with it ;~D

Like the out-of-date 80's lady in the red hat. Is she supposed to be alluring? If not, what is *the* point of the pic?

Ok - now you've got me hitting refresh on threads because I can't picture this one. That wasn't nice!

'Morning. 'Evening. Got up at 3:00 to watch the funeral....okay so I didn't get up. I set the TV to come on at 3:00 and watched it from bed. Miss Cat thought she might be getting early breakfast. Ha!

Anyway....I'm pooped and ready to crash already and it's broad daylight!

Oh yeah. The only phone I have is the pre-paid minutes phone and it stays off mostly.

I was up in the middle of the night too, but I snoozed off and didn't get to watch much of it.

It was nice to see a church service with decent music.

Do I need to stop at the vet on my way home for more of Homer's ear medicine?

Heh... You shouldn't have to go to Rome in the middle of the night to see that ;~D

If you want to... otherwise it'll be a trip tomorrow. We are going through it faster than we were supposed to.

Well, I'm kinda pooped, so I'd rather come straight home if we don't ~need~ to pick it up today. Are they open tomorrow?

Guess who wins the master hunter award...

Old, fat and blind... but still smarter than a mouse.

I don't know where he got it... he had it on the porch and wanted in with it.

At this point I have a feeling I'd be more of a danger to myself than evildoers with a gun.

Unless there are known large predators out there, you can get by quite nicely with a .22 revolver. Use .22 CBs, or .22 subsonics, and there is very little muzzle blast. Your ears won't even ring one little bit. .22 shotshells for snakes.

Medium-size dangers require a .38 with shotshells, some mid-range wadcutters, and maybe a few hollowpoints. If you have to carry a handgun starting with a "4", things are serious enough that hearing damage will be a trivial concern.

There is also carrying gear that doesn't advertise that you're packin'.

Were you shooting with ear protection on? It's really loud without it.
