Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yeah, the wind is blowing like crazy here, too. I'd say we've gotten about...five inches, maybe? Hard to tell! We're supposed to get up to 14 total. Eek! I didn't bother shoveling tonight as I figured I'd have to do it in the morning anyway, and might as well do it all at once.
If it snows HARD...maybe we'll get another half day off out of this? ;-)

I'm back to revive the thread since my computer has been revived! YIPPEE!!
Turned out the problem was a loose CPU. My sister's boyfriend took it out, popped it back in and TA-DA!
I'm a happy camper tonight. Can you tell?
I'm even willing to forgive your last ping. ~shudder~

Oh, that's wonderful! Glad it was something free! ;-) Wonder how the CPU worked itself loose, though? That's rather odd...
Heh...sorry 'bout that ping. But I hadda.

Is it really, though? Or is it just belching...?
I'm hopin' it saves the REAL eruption for when we're out there for the wedding.
Or...kinda. I'm fascinated, I admit, though I suppose ash is a real drag. I still feel gypped that I was too young to appreciate being in Portland when it erupted last time. All I remember is not bein' allowed to go play on my swingset because of the ashes, and people jogging with handkerchiefs over their mouths.

Rosie - I knew you couldn't resist pinging me to that thread. No sooner than you'd be able to resist pinging me to a shark thread or a balloon thread. *grin*
Ramius - Evenin' to ya! I saw that St Helens is finally putting on the show everyone was waiting for months ago! Hopefully it'll scare some of the liberals out of the state. ;-D
Both - I have NO idea how the CPU got loose to begin with, but my best guess is someone kicked my machine - namely kids. Now I have a very good reason to finally put a lock on my door. Grrrr....

It is an eruption... seems to be an ash cloud, maybe 25 kilofeet they're sayin. Not a huge one though. Maybe a "mega-burp" is the way to say it.

Cool! Grabbed this off the live thread, there are better images now on local news... not sure if this is the view from Portland or Vancouver. Portland probably.

Hopefully it'll scare some of the liberals out of the state. ;-D Or maybe it'll encourage them to all get a *real* close look just before the big one. Most efficient.

Our local channel has better pictures than the national channel pics I've seen. I just took this picture of our TV screen.

A little bit of ash is no big deal. Lots of ash, is a bummer. Ritzville, in eastern WA, got something like three feet of ash in 1980. What a mess.
Can't wash it away. It has the consistency of flour when dry, but if you add water it turns into a grey peanut-butter-like substance that actually makes it harder to clean up.
