Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We'll race to the finish line.
Of course, the mule riders get a head start.

I think rafting sounds like a fine option compared to the other two!

You could always crash in a helicopter. That really messes up the "Leave no Trace" pledge...

Those are actual establishments on the Outer Banks. I am not making this up. Reminds me of a place in Oregon, just out of Seaside, called "The Crab Pot". It was, unfortunately, a strip joint. I dunno who was the rocket scientist that came up with that name. But one night a bunch of us from the ship decided to investigate.
Lemme tell you... A strip joint has to be *really* scary and nasty to get a whole shipload of sailors to go running for the exits. But... just damn...

Mules can't swim. I'd smack you for that, but I am too busy laughing hysterically at your strip joint story!

I was always disturbed by the burger place "Patty Wackers" in Moses lake. I just couldn't walk in the door. ;~D

hehehe... but it wasn't funny at the time.
I'm telling you... it was *really* scary. It was a strip joint as interpreted by Steven King... on acid. Ask anyone... I'm not kidding. :-)

Incidentally, I think it's almost certain Rose and I will make it to ShootMoot. We probably won't be able to travel to Michigan the week before (my original plan was to drive to Michigan the week before, and stop by ShootMoot during our drive back) but ShootMoot is only a day's drive away from Austin, soooo... we should be able to drive up on Friday and back on Monday, unless we're living on the streets or something.

And, just like that, my mom finds a way to irritate the snot outta me.
My room is the hottest in the house because it used to be the garage. My mom has the master bedroom and her room is the coldest in the house.
I can't lower the air any further than 73 because my mom complains that she wakes up with a sore throat if it gets too cold in her room.
So, I walk over to ask her if Becky can sleep with her because Becky has woken up complaining how hot it is. She responds by saying how her back hurts (she has a queen-size $900.00 mattress) and she needs space to get in different positions at night to alleviate the pain.
So, I come back to my room and Becky is now sleeping on my $300.00 full size mattress in nothing but her underpants and a cold-pack under the sheet.
Is it just me or is something wrong with this picture?
