The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'd love to read it!

The thing I like most about the Idiot Guide I got for Christmas is that it's written like that...very casual and funny, with the vernacular of the '60s peppered through it. I mean, the guy will be telling you to do such and such to your pistons and cylinders, then he'll say "Ok, sit down and smoke a Camel, then get your 17mm wrench."

It's hysterical!

We only got to work out in the shop a little in the evening last night...but have almost got the front end beam removed. It's going to have to be replaced, spindle to spindle.

I'll be updating the blog after I get the boys started on school.

Good morning!

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down...and today is both.

Had a good weekend, for the most part. Few little family arguments, which always happens when someone returns from away. Seems like it always means old discussions get dragged out again, and it isn't always purty. But it wasn't all like that.

Only a week to go! I could really use prayers now, both for the trip and for peace. I'm someone who really tends to just accept the status quo no matter how crappy it is, just because change and transition bother me so much...so I'm having a lot of "what have I DONE!?" and "What am I doing!?" kinda moments, and probably will for the next few months.

And without a job, I feel a bit like I'm getting ready to jump off a cliff, and just assuming someone's there to catch me at the bottom...

Oh the dreaded "lead balloon". LOL

Heh...last night Jr. asked if he could rent a Playstation game since he's on Spring Break. I said, sure, clean up your room tomorrow and we'll go get one tomorrow night.

With that and the yard work I've told him to do he thinks I've taken all of his spring break and he won't get anytime "off."

I told him that would be relevant if he actually did any work when he wasn't on spring break.

Here it is, the synopsis of the CSI NY I was thinking of...probably my favorite episode so far...

Danny and Aiden arrive at another scene, where they're irritated to find Detective Vicaro, who asks them to identify themselves. Danny gives him attitude and he and Aiden climb under the tape, where they find the body of a naked dead woman in the woods, a little bit off the road. Aiden notices headlight glass on the ground, and Danny sees the bark of a nearby tree is bloody and broken, as well as skid marks. Danny wonders if the woman was a hitchhiker, but as Aiden points out, who hitchhikes naked?

Hawkes isn't able to identify her, but he does point out ligature marks that indicate she was restrained--they're in a candy cane pattern up and down her body, and are too even to be from either duct tape or rope. Vicaro has located the vehicle from the case: it's an F-150 in impound with an odd apparatus strapped to the front of it. The apparatus turns out to be harness with a button on the bottom of it. Inside the car they find a latex suit, straps and a red ball with teeth marks on it--the woman was strapped, upside down, to the harness on the front of the car. Danny also finds glass on the passenger side, but it doesn't seem to be from any of the car's windows.

This is also the episode with "Spatula Man"...really my favorite episode!
