The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I take it you'll be fortunate enough to avoid the Bay area this time around?

evenin'...

we got a wildfire about two miles North of the homestead... with a front coming thru, the winds are shifting to come out of the north...

this is why we did the controlled burn, but it could be a long nite/day tomorrow...

30-35 mph winds right now ain't helpin'... it's a ways off still, with to moderate fire breaks between us...
so I'm not frantic...

I'm gonna gralloch the stupid bastige that lights a fire on a day with 25-35 mph winds and 20% humidity...

prayers would be appreciated...

Google sez it's related to Norton (now Symantec) Live Update.

Here's a question that I realize I'll have to just ask the payroll folks...but maybe someone here has an idea of what's normal.

I'm planning on NOT taking most of my vacation time, which means I get paid for it. Any idea what's usual as far as pay for it? I'm assuming I DON'T get paid my hourly rate for every vacation hour I don't take...but that'd sure be nice...

Well, no, actually, you should get your regular pay rate for the vacation hours. It's just like getting a check for working however many vacation hours you haven't used.

Did that sentence make sense?

Really? That would be awesome! I have well over a hundred hours...so it'd be like an extra paycheck! Woo...I hope so!

Guess I should ask that pretty quick!

At every job I've had, 'cashed out' (unused) vacation time has been paid at the same hourly rate I would have gotten if I had used the vacation time.
