What is that Sparrow-like bird in the photo? (oh, good grief my sainted mother just called and told me she "won" $1,000 worth of "free" gasoline according to some pop up banner. She was filling out some form when she decided to call me and ask why they wanted all her credit card info!!!!!!) I have counseled her about this sort of thing before.

Anyway, the bird in the pic-- I have seen one here recently and I couldn't id it. Can you?

It's the female of the male Grosbeak we have been seeing. I hope they decided to stay. Usually they go further north but maybe since they have endless food supply they may consider staying. :)

Oh boy, I'm glad Mom checked with you first. I'm glad you brought that up. My Mom is just learning the Internet. I will make certain I push that point of no personal information.
