Well, I can jump in here and testify that my Brown Thrashers built the sturdy foundation with twigs but stuffed it with scraps of paper and plastic for lining.
Then they abandoned it. :(

Has anybody ever seen one of these alive? This Opossum was grazing on walnuts that had fallen from the platform feeder just after sunset. Yeah,it's horrible photo I took through the window before I realized that that didn't cut it with digicams.
