Sorry, I seem to have gotten diverted. You asked: "Then what happened?"

When the war was finally over and Phil could come home, he and Helen were married. They were married in the biggest cathedral in Boston, and Phil says his wedding day was the most important day of his life. Phil and his wife had several children, and they raised them in a house on 9th Avenue in Flint before they moved out to Portage Point. At the present time, Phil is still living there....

Aw, that's cute. We had two movies with Dorothy Lamour this week: "Road to Morocco" and "The Greatest Show on Earth."
