"So far I have not encountered such a problem, but of course, I live in a very red county. My daughter's 1st grade class voted 17-2 for Bush for President."

Thank God we have also not encountered this problem with any of our 3 daughters (21,16,12) many teachers. What fun you must have had talking with your daughter about her 1st grade class voting. Our 12 yr old had an assignment to watch the State of the Union address. As her Father I enjoyed watching how enthralled she was, she must have taken 3 pages of notes. I envy you living in a red county. We live in a very blue county and it is sometimes disheartening feeling as though my vote will make no difference.

I'm glad you have also not encountered the problem.

My daughter couldn't wait to tell me all about the class voting. My political views, and the fact that we take our daughter with us when we express them has garnered me much criticism on other message boards by people that track my comments here. Of course the criticism comes from people that would be very comfortable over at DU, so I pay not much mind to them.

I can imagine just how you felt with your daughter paying that much attention to the State of the Union. That is wonderful that she is so interested.

I totally understand the disheartening feeling of being red in a blue area........we lived in what for years was a very red area in Delaware.......the changes had much to do with us moving to Virginia.
