Word For The Day, Tuesday, March 2, 2005
03/02/05 | Slip 18

Posted on 03/01/2005 4:44:55 AM PST by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

PRESAL

Noun:

PRONOUNCED: Pry/zel

Etymology: Can’t read it.

1) (obs) A seizure (as of goods) under legal or customary privileges.
2) (obs) (a) The action of taking something as the prize of war. (b) Something taken as a prize.

"Keeping abreast for 50 years . . ."

Grimmy, an obsolete word can be good, my dear. Just go with the flow unless you're in Alaska, then go with the floe.

". . .as I've often wondered what the presal Michael Schiavo hopes to win with the death of his "wife".

Silence, do you think?

46 and clear again, yippee! It is finally dry enough to paint, so I'm off to a customer's house to do so-back later...

You've got it, T5. Voting -- and I hate this word -- empowers people.

A++++ for you!

I've seen that done so many times, Knitting. A brake shop owner here in our area WON his case against the dreaded eminent domaine with the help of Institute for Justice. The city coffers wanted to put in a lovely new mall, like we don't have them everywhere already.

Doesn't it though. I think presal should be taken off the obsequious list of words. It fits right in there with plunder and pillage.

A++++ for you, Dutch.

yes go and have a manicure. i used the gift cert to the salon that xshub gave me for Christmas, this past Sat. and they did something called a spa manicure and spa manicure. it is more elaborate than just a regular one, and they put your feet and hands in parrafin wax, when that cools and they peel it off, your feet and hands are so soft and smooth : )

i don't think i have. i had a variety of diff things, but i don't think mud. Mostly i do this when we are on vaca somewhere that has a nice spa facility. the best was in Hawaii last June, when the massage and body treatments were done in this semi outdoor room, where you could see the beautiful sky and palm trees. it was heaven on earth. literally, you came out of there in a total daze of relaxation.
