I believe Sprint drop their WiFi service and are concentrating on their 3G services at the moment. But like the article states. They will most likely offer a new Wireless service in a year or so. Whether its using WiMAX or not is yet to be seen. Verizon is also entering the Wireless Broadband market under the name of Verizon Wireless Avenue. So the Big boys are getting involved now.

I used to have Sprint Wireless and I asked about a wireless broadband package. They said they currently did not offer any, but AT&T did. The AT&T wireless broadband service is about as fast as ISDN and runs something like $30 a month for 15-20 GB of bandwidth. It has a pretty wide coverage area also.
