Isn't picking good scripts how their agents earn their ten percent?

"...as she gave a stirring recreation of her Academy Award acceptance speech, including tears."

"Including tears ?" WTF? That's just wack. I'm all for laughing at one's self (see 99% of my posts,) but in the way she handled this situation in total, together with how she's stepped on people in the past, it looks to me as though this time she's hiding behind the skirt of humor (a la Al Franken.) She gave this award MUCH too much attention, and did so in a manner of someone who's not comfortable with themself.

Again, just my wack thoughts. And sorry for mentioning Halle and Stuart Smally together. I know...it's a horrible thought. :-)

Pretty wack thoughts alright ;~D

People can never make fun of themselves or the way they acted in the past? I think I've seen Sally Field make a joke of her "You really like me!" speech.

Maybe sometimes they go home and watch the tape of themselves in horror. The strong ones can own up and laugh at it with us. ;~D

Yes, but ultimately, its up to the actor to decide if the role is best for him and his career. There are a lot of actors out there, but very few smart actors.

"There are a lot of actors out there, but very few smart actors."

LOL! And their political persuasion is a dead give away.

That's not what I was saying. And Sally Field making a joke of her "You Really Like Me" speech was, I believe, truly a Stuart Smally moment. ;-)

I know that's not what you were saying... you were saying it was all some contrived motive, hiding behind humor, which I think is putting ~way~ too much spin on a gal who decided to at least use the jokes about her for her own benefit, and it worked... I like her better now for doing it.

I'm missing something in that I don't know who Stuart Smally is.

There are a lot of actors out there, but very few smart actors.

Since the early days of laser discs, I would look forward to listening to the technical and director's commentaries.

Now, with DVDs, everyone makes a commentary track, and actors are in the highest demand.

My point? The actor's commentary is consistently the worst, most vacuous, puerile track on the disc.

Have you ever listened to the LOTR actor's tracks? It's physically painful to listen to.

Acting may require talent, and undoubtedly training...but native intelligence doesn't seem to be a prerequisite.

Good grief. It's funny. A joke.

Exactly. There is a bit too much vitriol on this thread. Halle was showing humility and that she can take punches with grace and accept her shortcomings.

Personally, I find it admirable that she now joins Tom Green (Freddy Got Fingered) as the only "star" to attend and accept a Razzie award. Too many celebs take their "craft" way too seriously. They aren't brain surgeons. Classy move, Halle!

I don't usually go for the actor's commentaries... I've listened to them, and in the case of LoTR, much as I like those guys, they talk over each other and don't offer a ~lot~ that is interesting. I do appreciated the director/writer's commentaries, and the commentaries from the design/effects group.

Funny, that a person of mixed race makes a point of publicizing only part of her heritage.

You guys wrote the "one-drop" rules. Can't take it back now that we win something.

He seems to be inordinately fond of his Muslim father who abandoned him when he was two.

Cute as all get-out.

Acting talent? No. See her in 'X-Men'. Visually impressive but lame delivery of all her lines.

The Washington Monument is visually impressive, but it can't act either.

She sure is cute, though. :)

Here's a fun drinking game: Every time her "accent" changes in X-Men, take a shot. You should be under the table by the third reel.
