Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch is exiting the chart-topping nü-metal band after finding God, according to a message on the band's official Website.

"Korn has parted ways with guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, who has chosen Jesus Christ as his savior and will be dedicating his musical pursuits to that end," his bandmates said, adding that they "respect Brian's wishes and hopes he finds the happiness he is searching for."

"who has chosen Jesus Christ as his savior"

Who was first runner-up?

Rock on! Good choice. Backstage at the Pearly Gate auditorium will beat anything on this side of the grave.

Fascinating story. At least to judge by the tone of it, this isn't any kind of stunt. This fellow has simply grown up. God bless and help him keep to his new path.

No Christ, no peace. Know Christ, know peace. God bless him and give him strength.

Kewl!

But did they have to list Cat Stevens at the bottom of the article as "one who sees the light?" In his case, I'm thinking more of "darkness."

Actually it was money. Islam had Cat on thier bankroll for years.

I will see the episode of South Park with Korn in it in a different light now. This is great news.

I'm just hoping this is a wake up for my nephew. His favorite band is Korn, and he's another one of our liberal youth who is floating through life without direction right now. If this in any way brings him closer back to God then this is a great thing!

As for his motivations for joining Islam, I was thinking more along the lines of Cat Stevens problem with women (Patti D’Arbanville who dumped him for Don Johnson) and chasing the stripper Lucy Johnson (aka Princess Cheyenne) around town.

Captain America over at LGF (post #20) summed it up nicely:

In the tale of Cat Stevens I think you have a microcosm explanation for Islam, because it postulates a world where men are in complete control of women, where the fear of facing a society where women are equals and where a woman can choose or reject their mate or lovers is not permitted. And for the weak men who cannot comfortably compete for women, Islam provides the safety of an arranged marriage and the protection from losing a women to another male by hiding them away and preventing them from interacting with any potential rival for their affection.

Islam, Sharia and other Muslim traditions form a male control freak's ideal society, and the only one a social misfit like Cat Stevens could fit into. It's sad that Islam is so seductive to primitive and backward peoples, as well as to the very few who come to it from a modern society that cannot accept the fear and anxiety that allowing the freedom of choice to both men and women creates.

For some, the obligation to make individual moral choices and to compete with and for women is just too frightening. Some would rather be a "slave to Allah" where their control of women is defined and enforced by society itself and the interests of women are completely suppressed.

What thinking and caring human being, looking at all the possible options for a life, would consign any woman to the living Hell of an Islamic society?

Your welcome.

I like a couple of their songs. Although I don't get one thing about this; are they unChristian? Satanic? Atheist? It seems that Welch's finding of God precludes him from remaining as a member of Korn.
