And it was more on the conservative side than on the liberal side with some great nose tweaks on both sides.
I searched and didn't see anyone start this. Do we just comment on things that haven't seen yet?

I was wondering about it, but refuse to make comment on it until it's been aired. Alas, I have a six-year-old in my house and I really can find our for myself, so I'll just listen in on the thoughts of those who have seen it...
Both Mike Judge and Matt Groening have really surprised me from time to time. I'm interested to see how they approach this...

Troy McClure's fetish episode was edgier.

To begin with, Homer went into the "same-sex marriage" biz for the money. Then after all the gays were married, he decided that he would marry any 2 things with the bucks for the ceremony.
They specifically show him marrying a brother and sister, end even when Ken Brockman intrbviews him and the reverend Lovejoy, Homer says, in essence, it doesn't matter any more. There are no standards.
More than our side than not and I won't ruin what I thought was a pretty funny end.

Let's try that again:
I have a six year old in my house and I really CAN'T find OUT about it for myself...
That's better. MUCH better.

OK. Well if anyone could give a good summary it would be appreciated. I didn't watch because I didn't want my kids watching.

I think Family Guy would have done a much more entertaining show on this subject.
I did like the reference to the slippery slope though.

If it's a Simpsons made in the last three years and it's funny, it wasn't what I was expecting.

I just asked the mod to put a spoiler alert on the headline for west coasters (not that anyone ever does that when *I* am on the West Coast)

Yes, but like any Simpsons episode past season six, it wasn't funny.

SPOILER ALERT
To: Richard Kimball
Both the simpsons and SNL have been on a downhill slide for awhile. It's like everyone is in 'check cashing mode'.
Both franchises should be put out of their (and our) misery.

The Simpsons isn't what it used to be, but it is generally amusing if not totally funny.
I think the fact it has lasted so long and stays pretty good is a testament to Groening, et al.
I am not a Simpsonsophile by any means, but after all the knee-jerk "Write FOX, this is an OUTRAGE" nonsense (sadly, our side of DUmmie FUnnies), I made it a point to actually SEE the eposide.
The folk on that thread should be ashamed of themselves.

If I want a funny animated cartoon -- and I do -- I will be watching King of the Hill at 9:30.
To: stevio

Interesting that you should post this right now. I just posted
a blog post saying that I think I'm going to quit watching.
Though it's not about the content of this episode in particular anyway.
