What started out as a cliched collection of yarns, quickly turned unexpectedly awkward and tense after the 'clown prince' of college football Lee Corso ironically objected to some good natured ribbing from KTCK-AM radio host Dan McDowell.
During the interview before the Doak Walker Awards in Dallas, Corso, who roomed with Burt Reynolds at Florida State, delighted in telling the duo well worn stories about Reynolds posing for Cosmo Magazine in the 1970's.
McDowell then followed up the anecdote on Reynolds by joking, 'Not a lot of people know this but Lee Corso was actually the second person to pose nude, correct'?
Following the quip, an apparently offended Corso wemt stone silent, with a stunned host saying, 'Or did I read that wrong?'
After a long pause, Corso began [his long verbal harrangue] with, 'I wont even give you a next question.'
He said, 'I think that was very sarcastic and I don't appreciate it. And Im not kidding..'

This proves what I've always thought - Corso is a thin-skinned loud-mouthed jackass.
lol
That's a pretty inside joke, there.
The radio host asking the question, Dan McDowell, is also a huge idiot. Thinks he's funny but is as lame as it gets. And he, like Corso, also can't take a joke or anything that might be perceived as an affront to his self-esteem. The giant clicking sound heard around the Dallas-Fort Worth area when McDowell comes on the air around noon CST are all the station's normal listeners turning off their radios. Why the station continues to employ him is beyond me.
Anyway, it sounds like this was just a DFW version of the famous South Park "cripple-fight".
Also, when he needed to make a phone call, he used a pay phone not a cell phone.
He's an arrogant guy who was, for the most part, a failure as a coach who now gets paid to criticize coaches who know what they are doing.
Corso is a legend in his own mind.
Corso makes his whole living joking around, I think he was just trying to 'big time' a local radio show host and he wouldn't back down..funny stuff!
Thats old school
I know who Corso is, but what is the significance of posing nude, in relation to Corso?
Thanks in advance for the explanation. I'm not a sports fan, so I've obviously missed something.
IT. WAS. A. JOKE.
Corso is Mel Brooks' long lost brother. Separated at birth. Look at them. Could be twins.
Wow then he truly is sensitive.
Must be something else going on with him....old-age crankiness perhaps.
