We use their AIX product extensively, and we just can't get the same level of stability or mature tools on Linux, as a server solution, as we can on AIX. But have you run Linux on the P series hardware? Many of the problems people see Linux as having is because of the Hardware its on. 5x9 on an intel platform is difficult and always requires clustering.

One of our guys tested SuSE 9.1 running a Progress database and Fathom Replication on a pSeries 530 to a second pSeries 530. I can't say what the exact results of the testing was, since it wasn't my project, but I know that we were disappointed in what we found. We do use SuSE 9.1 (and now 9.2) for specific imaging apps in our organization.
