Woman sentenced to 2 days in jail in dog cannibalism case
MANASSAS, Va. A Manassas woman was sentenced today to two days in jail in an animal cruelty case that involved dog cannibalism.
Karen Lee Morris was also barred from ever owning another pet in Virginia other than a fish.
In December, animal control officers found three emaciated pit bulls in the tiny backyard of the woman's town house. One of the dogs was eating the carcass of another.
Manassas City Attorney Robert Bendall had asked the judge to give Morris ten days in jail, which is unusual in misdemeanor cases. Bendall says there is a direct correlation between the way people treat animals and what they do in the rest of their life.
Morris' attorney, Robert King, had argued against any jail time, saying that his client was simply overwhelmed with the burden of caring for six children as well as the dogs.

Only in Amerika where one can kill her own baby minutes before it's natural birth, feeding tubes can be pulled from the handicap but eat your dog - now that's a crime.
Gross.
ping.
Bet ya she "black market's" a few Piranha's...
I typed something but I backspaced because I figured I would get busted for it. Just use your imagination.
That's what animals do,they eat each other, this is why there is no such thing as "animal rights".
In order to have rights you must have the ability to respect the rights of others.
The headline is silly,Should be "Woman sentenced to 2 days in jail in animal cruelty case."
The old media is so infested with political correctness they can't even get a headline right!/rant.
I feel better now.
At least they didn't eat the kids. I wonder how well she cared for them.
Black dog is a delicacy in the Phillippines.
All cultures being valid, after all, why is either the dog eating the dog, or woman eating the dog, a crime????????
Because we're better than the Phillippines.
All she had to do was pick up the phone and call the local SPCA or county animal control office.
Don't tell your local junior high school social studies class that!
