It is indeed ice, but don't try to skate on it.
Our building is on the third block east of the Hudson River boat basin and is shaped like an "E" with a fourth cross-piece. You can see Susan waving from a window on the south side.

Thanks for your help in troubleshooting the URL. I thought they had dropped the Hudson River-Central Park-East River image since I couldn't retrieve it through http://www.spaceimaging.com, whereupon I discovered some other interesting satellite photos.
