The thing is, that I and ernest don't use SP-2.

Well I have it on one system but I have no reason to do the restore function.... There has to be a lesson in this whole effort.... What Howlin was doing well before we got involved in this thread ,, i thought should have fixed this problem.... I think she needs to register a complaint with microsoft.....

I have actually "lost" them before, but a simple reboot (or a complete restart) brought them back.

The thing is, even though I wasted a lot of your time, I love stuff like this.

I love learning about computers and "messing" with them. It's like a puzzle, and I just have to find the thing that's going to solve it. I'll admit it's a lot more fun with all of you!

You know, you're right; I ran Norton Ingegrator, Restore, the whole thing. It SHOULD have worked.

This is one of those things that started with SP-2. I recall seeing it on the forums where they were all screaming about system problems. This is one, but the fact is, it shows up after install.

The registry got affected and the security did not stop it, but it stoped the fix.

it might be just program degradation from operating a long time.

I dunno.
