MORNING EVERYONE....
LIBBY, COULD YOU TELL THEM OVER AT YOUR BIRD/GARDEN THREAD THAT I CAN'T TYPE, BUT I ENJOY READING THEIR POSTS. YOU DID A GOOD JOB STARTING THAT."
My camera is on the blink right now. We think it might be the battery has failed. The camera just won't turn on. I'm going to pick up a new battery next time I'm in town.

No problem:). I've gotten all this info from people helping me. I "get" nothing when it comes to computers.

I would think in Alabama you would have little trouble attracting them. Sometimes it takes a little while for them to discover they're there and once they do, they alert their friends. Also, using several different types of feeders with different types of food will attract a wider variety too. The finches, for example, will often stay away unless you offer thistle/nyger seeds. Cardinals are partial to black oil sunflower seeds, bluejays like peanuts. Experiment. You can also makes some of your own concoctions. Scan through this thread. There are lots of ideas.
Sorry to hear of your fractured shoulder. I hope your comfortable and no pain. Feel Better Conservababe!
I honestly didn't know, but in my experience, there have been few subjects that at least some FReepers don't have an opinion on and some expertise in, and the news gets so darned depressing sometimes, I think a lot of us need to focus on some of our other interests to relax. It's nice to be able to do it with other FReepers.
POOR Becky! (Gentle) Hugs and prayers, Lady!
We've had one roadrunner here. They usually eat lizards, snakes, and (I think) tarantulas too.
I get to plant my first hummingbird garden! I'm so excited!!!
Sweetliberty, not sure if anyone has thought about it, but would you consider starting a Bird/Gardening thread part deaux for us poor suckers with slow connections?
I once spied two road runners in the cul de sac and then saw them going into the neighbor's yard, pecking in the flower bed like chickens! I also saw a mama and baby wild turkey in my patio area.. I grew up in a small town and did not see this growing up..or perhaps was oblivious.
That first window feeder that mounts inside is awesome. My window frames don't extend far enough inside to mount one properly. I don't trust the ones with suction cups.
I'm not really surprised this thread is still going. People like to talk:), epecially about things they enjoy:). I also talk alot on a horse thread that is on it's third thread of over 5,000 posts, in less then a year.
With the amount of people on FR you could probably post any "hobby" topic thread and have the thing continue on forever. FR people are never short of opinions and advice:)
Becky
We don't trust the suction cups either.
I also never want to harm the birds so
ours is mounted out maybe 2 feet from the window.
The thought of a little bird crashing into the
window worried me. Birds are not equally GOOD
flier/landers. Know what I mean?
The Cardinals are my favorites. They're absolutely gorgeous.
LOL...I know I have been oblivious to the varity of birds we have here till just this last few years. We have lived in the house, in the country, for about 26 years, and I had never noticed the Goldfinch till 3 years ago. How in the world could you miss that bird:)...and I'm outside alot...in the woods alot...LOL, talk about oblivious.
Becky
LOL! Sometimes, whether they know what they're taliking about or not.
I've (thankfully) only shot my mouth off once and had to eat crow :)
Never mind about the new thread idea, I didn't realize we started a new page this morning. Been popping in and out!
They are neat, and a bit comical. I think whoever did the Roadrunner cartoons must have spent some time watching them. I've actually seen more Roadrunners in Arkansas, at least in northern Arkansas, than I ever did in the California desert.
We have a lot of wading birds here too, but I don't have a marshy area in my immediate vicinity. Probably just as well. Where there is marshy area, the bugs are trecherous and I do NOT do bugs.
Put water nearby..It need not be fancier than a big clay pot saucer(change water daily) They will discover the food and alert others.
Doesn't it speed up when the page changes over? I have my settings at 250 posts per page, but you can set them as low as 50, but in answer to your question, yes, I can start a second thread and link it to this one. Might not do it today though.
Thanks. I got the idea from an old Monty Python gag:
Lady 1: Yesterday it took me three hours to bury my cat.
Lady 2: It took three hours?
Lady 1: Yes, it was awful. The poor thing kept trying to run away.
LOL! One of my daughters is 'pedally impeded'...if it doesn't have any legs, or too many legs, she won't get near it!
;-)
