This is my first post here. I wanted to say hello and introduce myself. As you can tell by my handle, I'm a huge Ann Coulter fan. :-)
I've actually been checking out the site for a while... ever since a friend mentioned for about the third time. I finally decided to get registered today (slow day at work...).
Anyway, here's the topic:
I am really psyched up about the idea of partially privatizing social security. in fact, I wish it'd been done years ago. and I want it to be to a higher percent. so I wrote to both my senators and my congressman about it.
what other ideas are out there that could help improve our country???
I want to hear them... anybody have ideas??
one of my favorites...
make tax day and election day one and the same. maybe make it a national holiday... call it Good Citizenship Day or something.
the point is, right now, tax day is about as far from election day as it can get. but do you think people would vote differently if they had to turn in their taxes at the polls, just before they go pull the lever?
I also think that turning in your tax forms at the polls would encourage more people to vote... they'd BE there already anyway.
yeah its Ohio. There are literally millions of places to eat here. Which is why its like the 2nd or 3rd fattest State in the Union :)
Maybe it's the weather.
could be that too...
The weather isnt horrible right now. At least it is warmer than a balmy -5 as it was the morning after I got back up here :)
My sister, her husband, her son, her daughter, and son in law all live around Cincinnatti. They hate the weather.
hehe
maybe its because I am still in the afterglow of being home.
Anything is better than Baghdad :)
I am thinking about moving even further south. I hate cold!
you mean you want to go to Florida? :)
You cant get much further south where you are ya know....
where did you miss my point- WHATEVER the price (even if it becomes lower) will have about 30% added to it for the new tax PLUS local sales tax
there is a huge underground economy growing in Canada for that very same reason.
so, did you survive your first day as a freeper?
And don't forget, you no longer have any federal taxes deducted from your check so you have MORE MONEY!
you forgot that if the price of goods goes down then wages will have to go down too
if a person makes $40K and suddenly no taxes are taken out AND the price of goods (before taxes) goes down (your scenario), then there will have to be a HUGE sales tax added to even it all out
Actually, employers would be in a position to be able to afford larger salaries and wages. No more SS and Medicare matching, and no more cost of compliance along with other things.
if a person makes $40K and suddenly no taxes are taken out AND the price of goods (before taxes) goes down (your scenario), then there will have to be a HUGE sales tax added to even it all out
This sentence makes no sense.
yes it does make sense- in your scnario sales taxes go up, but prices go down so it evens out.
but you dont mention the paycheck in that scenario. if you suddenly have no taxes taken out you have a huge take home pay increase.
so the price of goods goes down, but then sales tax is added to make up the difference- but sales tax will have to go up a HUGE amount to make up for the giant increase in take-home pay AND the lower cost of the goods.
Explain to me why if take home pay goes up that sales taxes MUST go up "a huge amount" to make up for the "giant increase in take home pay."
you said prices would go down for goods because no taxes would be added. (before the sales tax)
paychecks would also go up (no taxes removed)
there would have to be some way to equal this out- like a HUGE sales tax or else runaway inflation would immediately occur.
Yes, my FRiend, that is what I said, (but it was said poorly, not unusual for me).....My point was that if I was controlling the taxes I was required to pay, I would have more control over my spending.
Under the current system, I only have "X" amount to spend after the government has already taken it's share of what I've earned.
Under the FairTax, as understand it, I'm only paying tax on something I choose to purchase, which means I have far more leeway in my spending. (did I get that right?)
hmmm... Wright Pat may be more than 45 min. I was estimating from outer belt to outer belt. could be more like an hour or so to the museum. I've never been there, although I keep meaning to go (being a vet of the USAF).
survive? yeah... I just back to work and quit screwing around online.
