Those are pretty fish.

My fish was a little upset when I first got him. When I put him in the tank, he wouldn't eat. It took him several days to get used to his surroundings, but he's fine now. He's very demanding. He swims to the little hole in the top of the aquarium signaling that it's time to eat. LOL!

A betta.....is that what they also call a Siamese Fighting Fish? It was a long time ago when we had our aquarium. I have forgotten some of the varieties of fish we had.

Yep. Bettas are also called Siamese fighting fish. I uploaded a picture of Winston to my photo album... found here. It's a little difficult to see him, but he's in the upper left-hand corner of the aquarium.

Can't see Winston too well, but it's a nice tank. Almost makes me want to do the aquarium thing again. We had a betta, and angel fish and tiger barbs and mollies. The standard aquarium varieties.

Winston......that's a cute name for a fish. Glad he got over his depression. :-)

I tried to get some close-up photos of him, but he wouldn't stand still long enough for me to get a clear photo. LOL!

Like so many storms arriving from the Northeast
Pounding the Atlantic coast with the sound and the fury
I am set upon by agents of dispair from all sides
Being one used to handling other peoples children
I am usually able to resolve classroom drama easily
Enter dramatis personae of the adult world
Like the spectres of the betrayed
Returning to torment Richard III
A chorus of disdain, criticism, and rebuke
awaits my arrival every day at the office door
Things I thought I had resolved, found to be unmade
now festering with miscommunication and secondhand knowledge

By the time the awareness of a dear friend
lost to an insidious and divisive political movement
finally sinks in...
I am as numb to the experience as the bound captive
To the constant clicking of a revolver
inches from his temple by his captors

The Leviticus Reminder

Read:
Leviticus 11:41-45

I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy. -Leviticus 11:44

Bible In One Year: Leviticus 11-13

If you are following the Bible reading schedule in Our Daily Bread, you've been in the book of Leviticus lately. Leviticus may be one of the least-read books in the Bible, and you might be wondering what its purpose really is. Why all those laws and rules about clean and unclean animals? (ch.11). What message was God giving to the Israelites-and to us?

Bible commentator Gordon Wenham says, "As the laws distinguished clean from unclean animals, so the people were reminded that God had distinguished them from all the other nations on earth to be His own possession. . . . Man's highest duty is to imitate his creator."

Five times in Leviticus God says, "Be holy, for I am holy" (11:44-45; 19:2; 20:7,26). And forty-five times He says, "I am the Lord" or "I am the Lord your God." One of the most important themes in the book is God's call for His people to be holy. Jesus echoed that theme when He said, "You shall be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect" (Matthew 5:48).

As you read Leviticus 11, remember that you are special to God and are to "proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9).
